Pneumatique radial pour véhicule lourd de type poids lourd ou génie civil comprenant deux couches de travail (51, 52) comprenant des éléments de renforcement métalliques formant, avec la direction circonférentielle (XX’), un angle au moins égal à 15° et au plus égal à 45°, au moins une couche de frettage (41, 42). Chaque couche de frettage comprend des éléments de renforcement métalliques (411) formant, avec la direction circonférentielle (XX’) un angle A variable selon la position axiale. Les angles Ae1, Ae2 aux deux extrémités axiales (412, 413) de la couche de frettage (41, 42) sont de même orientation et de valeurs absolues au plus égales à 10°. L’angle A a une valeur absolue maximale Am à une distance axiale du plan médian (M) au plus égale à 15% de la largeur axiale de ladite couche de frettage, Am étant au moins égal à la moyenne des valeurs absolues des angles Ae1, Ae2 plus 10°.
