Description

The invention relates to a motor vehicle luggage compartment side trim assembly.

Il est connu de réaliser un ensemble de garnissage latéral de compartiment à bagages de véhicule automobile, ledit ensemble comprenant une tôle solidaire de la caisse du véhicule, ledit ensemble comprenant en outre :It is known to produce a side trim assembly for a motor vehicle luggage compartment, said assembly comprising a sheet integral with the body of the vehicle, said assembly further comprising:

  • du côté extérieur, un pare-boue en matériau thermoplastique moulé par injection, ledit pare-boue étant disposé généralement à distance de ladite tôle de manière à créer une lame d’air selon au moins 90% de sa surface,on the outer side, a mud flap made of injection-moulded thermoplastic material, said mud flap being placed generally at a distance from said sheet metal so as to create an air gap along at least 90% of its surface,
on the inside, a panel covering said sheet, said panel successively comprising, moving towards said sheet:
    • an interior appearance layer based on fibrous material,
    • a mechanical reinforcement layer based on thermoplastic elastomer – for example extruded polyolefin filled with a mineral filler, for example baryta -, the surface mass of said layer being between 1000 and 3000 g/m²,
    • an absorption layer based on fibrous material comprising base fibers - for example cotton - bound together by fusible bonding fibers, said layer having a density greater than 50 kg/m 3 and a thickness of between 10 and 15 mm along at least 90% of its surface.

Such an assembly has a large mass and non-optimized insulation and sound absorption performance, as will be seen later.

Furthermore, the panel has a low bending rigidity which does not ensure good quality perceived by the user, for example in the presence of luggage which could cause deformation of said panel.

The object of the invention is to overcome these drawbacks.

A cet effet, et selon un premier aspect, l’invention propose un ensemble de garnissage latéral de compartiment à bagages de véhicule automobile, ledit ensemble comprenant une tôle solidaire de la caisse du véhicule, ledit ensemble comprenant en outre :To this end, and according to a first aspect, the invention proposes a motor vehicle luggage compartment side trim assembly, said assembly comprising a sheet integral with the body of the vehicle, said assembly further comprising:

  • du côté extérieur, un pare-boue à base d’une couche de matériau fibreux thermo-compressée comprenant des fibres de base liées entre elles par des fibres de liaison fusibles, ledit pare-boue étant disposé généralement à distance de ladite tôle de manière à créer une lame d’air selon au moins 90% de sa surface,on the outer side, a mudguard based on a layer of thermo-compressed fibrous material comprising base fibers bonded together by fusible link fibers, said mudguard being disposed generally at a distance from said sheet so as to create an air gap along at least 90% of its surface,
on the inside, a panel covering said sheet, said panel successively comprising, moving towards said sheet:
    • an interior appearance layer based on fibrous material,
    • a mechanical reinforcement layer based on fibrous material, said layer comprising reinforcing fibers and fine acoustic absorption fibers bonded together by fusible bonding fibers, the surface mass of said layer being between 400 and 2000 g/ m², said layer having a Young's modulus in compression greater than 1 MPa,
    • a sealing film with a surface weight of less than 150 g/m² bonded to said reinforcing layer,
    • an absorption layer based on fibrous material comprising base fibers linked together by fusible bonding fibers, said base fibers having a titer of less than 2 dtex, said layer having a density of less than 35 kg/m 3 and a minimum thickness of 25 mm over at least 90% of its surface.

When mention is made of fusible link fibers, it is meant that the fusible character can only be implemented on part of the fibers, and in particular their sheath when it comes to bi-component fiber as explained more far.

The fusion, partial or complete, of the connecting fibers makes it possible to ensure the expected connection.

With the proposed arrangement, the absorption layer has a greater thickness than what was known from the prior art, so as to occupy more substantially the vacant space extending between the sheet and the interior covering panel.

This results in an improvement in overall acoustic protection, both in terms of insulation and absorption, as will be explained later.

According to one embodiment, the absorption fibers are based on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) with a titer of between 0.1 and 3.3 dtex, and in particular with a titer substantially equal to 1.7 dtex.

According to a first example, the constituent fibers of the reinforcing layer 7 are distributed according to the following percentages by weight:

According to a third example, the constituent fibers of the reinforcing layer are distributed according to the following percentages by weight:

According to one embodiment, the sealing film 8 is based on thermoplastic material - for example polyester or polyamide -, knowing that said film can be a multilayer of different materials, having in particular at least one external bonding sub-layer, for example polyethylene.

According to one embodiment, the base fibers of the absorption layer 9 have a titer of less than 2 dtex, and in particular equal to 1.7 dtex.

According to one embodiment, the base fibers of the absorption layer 9 are based on polyester – and in particular polyethylene terephthalate (PET) – and/or polypropylene.

According to one embodiment, the absorption layer 9 comprises between 25 and 30% by mass of connecting fibers.

According to various embodiments, the absorption layer 9 is fixed to the film 8 by gluing or even by means of rivets.

According to one embodiment, the absorption layer 9 has, according to standard ISO 3386-1 (01.06.1986), a compressive stress characteristic CC 75 of less than 20 kPa.

Such a capacity for compression allows the absorption layer 9 to be lodged everywhere, including in the zones where the space between the panel 1 and the sheet 2 is thin; and, in the embodiments of the prior art, said layer must be removed locally in such areas, which reduces the acoustic protection performance of said panel.

In addition, in the zones of non-contact between the sheet 2 and the absorption layer 9, said layer deploys to the maximum, which makes it possible to compensate for the loss of insulation linked to the reduced surface mass of the reinforcing layer 7 compared to what was known in the prior art.

According to one embodiment, the sheet 2 has a thickness of between 0.6 and 1.2 mm.

According to one embodiment, the air gap 11 has a thickness of between 10 and 40 mm.

According to one embodiment, the base fibers of the mudguard 3 are based on polyester, in particular polyethylene terephthalate.

According to one embodiment, the base fibers of the mudguard 3 have a count of between 3.3 and 13 dtex.

According to one embodiment, the binding fibers of the reinforcement layer 7 and/or of the absorption layer 9 and/or of the mudguard 3 have a count of between 2.2 and 6.7 dtex, and in particular equal to 4.4 dtex.

According to various embodiments, the connecting fibers of the mudguard 3 and/or of the reinforcement layer 7 and/or of the absorption layer 9 are:

  • des fibres de polypropylène, notamment de titre compris entre 6 et 7 dtex, ledit titre étant notamment de 6,7 dtex, polypropylene fibers, in particular with a denier of between 6 and 7 dtex, said denier being in particular 6.7 dtex,

In particular, the two-component fibers 10 comprise a core 12 of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), with a melting point of the order of 250° C., and the sheath 13 is made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) having undergone a chemical modification of so as to have a lowered melting point, for example of the order of 180°C.

On commente à présent les courbes présentées en figures 3 et 4.We now comment on the curves presented in Figures 3 and 4.

Concernant l’absorption du côté du panneau 5 ( ), on observe que le remplacement de la couche de renfort à base de polyoléfine par une couche de renfort 7 à base de matériau fibreux, associée au film 8, permet d’augmenter de façon très notoire (entre 30 et 40%) l’absorption en hautes fréquences au-delà de 800 Hz.Regarding the absorption on the side of panel 5 ( ), it is observed that the replacement of the reinforcing layer based on polyolefin by a reinforcing layer 7 based on fibrous material, associated with the film 8, makes it possible to increase very noticeably (between 30 and 40%) the absorption at high frequencies above 800 Hz.

Concerning the absorption on the side of the mudguard 3 ( ), it is observed that the replacement of the molded thermoplastic mudguard by a mudguard 3 based on a layer of thermo-compressed fibrous material makes it possible to drastically increase the absorption at medium and high frequencies above beyond 500 Hz, which was foreseeable given the porous character of the mudguard 3 used in the invention.

As observed on the , the very significant reduction in weight brought to the mechanical reinforcement layer 7, which should have resulted in a degradation of the insulation, does not lead to such a degradation thanks to the increase in thickness of the absorption layer 9, the mass of which is also reduced compared to what was known from the prior art, making it possible to further fill the vacant space between the panel 5 and the sheet 2 (principle of “double wall”).

Par ailleurs, l’augmentation du module de Young en compression de la couche de renfort 7, associée au film 8, accentue encore les performances d’isolation de l’ensemble 1 en respectant un comportement en isolation de type « masse-ressort », et ceci sans résonance jusqu’à 10 kHz.Furthermore, the increase in the Young's modulus in compression of the reinforcing layer 7, associated with the film 8, further accentuates the insulation performance of the assembly 1 by respecting a behavior in insulation of the “mass-spring” type, and this without resonance up to 10 kHz.

On observe sur la , une amélioration de l’isolation de l’ensemble 1 à partir de 300 Hz.We observe on the , an improvement in the isolation of set 1 from 300 Hz.

It should be noted that the mudguard 3, made porous, also contributes to the improvement of the insulation.

En effet, le remplacement d’un pare-boue étanche par un pare-boue 3 poreux permet une amélioration de l’isolation en moyenne fréquence (315-2000 Hz), ceci par suppression d’une antirésonance du système « double paroi » avant la « fréquence de respiration ».Indeed, the replacement of a waterproof mudguard by a porous mudguard 3 allows an improvement of the insulation in medium frequency (315-2000 Hz), this by eliminating an antiresonance of the "double wall" system before the "breath rate".

Moreover, as mentioned before, the improvement in the performance of set 1 in terms of acoustic protection is accompanied by a very significant drop in weight of said set.

Sur la base des valeurs de masse surfacique explicitées en légende des figures 3, on observe que la réalisation selon l’invention permet de réaliser un allègement de l’ensemble 1 de près de 2000 g/m² (1980 g/m² précisément), soit de presque 20%.On the basis of the surface mass values explained in the legend of Figures 3, it is observed that the embodiment according to the invention makes it possible to achieve a reduction in the assembly 1 of nearly 2000 g/m² (1980 g/m² precisely), i.e. by almost 20%.

Finally, the bending rigidity of the panel 5 is improved.

A comparison between the reference according to the prior art and according to the embodiment of the invention, according to the compositions explained in the legend of FIGS. 3, shows that the reinforcing layer 7 according to the invention has a flexural stiffness modulus (B = Eh 3/12 , with E: Young's modulus (Pa); h: thickness of the layer (m)) of 0.11 N/m, whereas said modulus is 0.02 N/m for the reference, this which leads to a noticeable stiffening of the panel 5 according to the invention.
