Description
The present invention pertains to the field of construction of exterior frame members having a floor covering, and in particular terraces adjoining the buildings. It relates to a system of suspended terrace with open joints comprising a plate sealed by a film and supported by beams conferring to the set a determined slope. The invention also relates to a method of constructing such a terrace, on any type of terrain. Many homes have a terrace on the ground floor, which extends the interior parts by a platform built near the building, often intermediate with a garden or courtyard. Traditionally, these terraces are built on a concrete screed cast on native soil. Tiles made of stone, stone, porcelain or other suitable material are then laid and sealed using the conventional technique of laying tiles with cemented joints. The disadvantage of this installation technique is that, as the outdoor terraces are exposed to bad weather, the cement joints crack over time, which causes the tiling of the tiles and is a frequent cause of infiltration into buildings. More recently, raised terraces with open joints have been proposed. A concrete screed is poured on the native soil with a slight slope. The tiles are placed on supports that hold them at the desired height above the inclined screed. They are placed horizontally next to each other, leaving between them a free space of a few millimeters, which remains as it is: it is not clogged by any cement, hence its qualification of open joint. This type of raised flooring makes it possible to transform irregular outdoor floors into flat surfaces to improve the aesthetics, insulation and drainage of terraces and flat roofs. Rain or sprinkling water can flow through the slits between the tiles, up to the sloping floor towards the drainage system or the surrounding natural soil. The open joints technique avoids seeing cement joints that crack over time. However, it is essential that the screed be waterproofed to prevent infiltration. It is also necessary to ensure the compensation of the differences in levels between the screed and the coating, which is done by the use of supports of different heights. This is a major drawback of the technique because the adaptation of the heights of the supports to each tile is difficult and tedious for the installer.
To obtain more easily a flat coating surface, pads adjustable in height by variable mechanisms are now commonly used. For example, there are known frustoconical studs whose base rests on the concrete slab and the top supports one of the corners of a tile, and whose height adjustment is done simply by turning an intermediate piece, which makes it possible to obtain the heights desired even if the base and the top are fixed. Although these devices can compensate for differences up to 2%, they require many manipulations before being adjusted to the appropriate height. The duration of the operations is even higher than each tile is supported by four studs (one at each corner for slabs usually square or rectangular). In addition all proposed systems require an initial soil preparation, which must be covered by a masonry screed. This technique is long because of the drying time of the concrete, and expensive to implement, particularly because of earthworks and masonry. So far, no solution to install an open sided terrace on any field, quickly and inexpensively, has been proposed.
An object of the present invention is to overcome these disadvantages by providing an open siding terrace system durably robust, simple and quick to install. Another object of the invention is to have a system easily adaptable to any type of terrain, and in particular that does not require extensive earthworks. Another aim is to reduce the construction times, in particular by avoiding the step of prolonged drying of a screed. Yet another object of the invention is to ensure a perfectly flat tile assembly with high stability, regardless of the size of the tiles. It is also sought to obtain good drainage efficiency of rainwater.
These objects are achieved by virtue of the present invention, which relates to an open-seam terrace system comprising an apparent upper covering composed of a plurality of coplanar slabs whose visible face has at least one dimension D, the slabs being laid with so as to leave between them a free space E of a few millimeters, said open seal, the system comprising: - at least one series of beams of longitudinal axis A and length Lp, arranged parallel to each other at a distance D + E d axis to axis, and resting on clusters of a solid material with an axial slope of between 0.5% and 5%, - a tight film extending between the slabs of the apparent coating and the beams (3), the slabs and the film being supported by the beams so as to constitute an inclined plate, elevated relative to the native soil. The slabs composing the apparent covering of the terrace on which the users move, rest on beams. They have a thickness of a few centimeters, for example two centimeters, to provide a resistance adapted to the intended use, and two large faces, one of which (the upper face) is visible to users. In general, a slab is inscribed in a parallelepiped, of square or rectangular base, although other shapes may be used. Each slab rests on two beams by support at the level of two lateral strips of two of its opposite sides. It is not necessary for a beam to come in medial support under the slab, although this is not prohibited in the context of the present invention. It is understood that the spacing of the beams must be provided so that the slabs are properly supported on each side on a beam and once arranged, they form a uniform coating, leaving only the space E of the seal between them. A square slab, side D may be placed on two beams arranged at the distance D + E from each other, counted with respect to the longitudinal axis A of said beams. For a rectangular slab, the dimension D considered will be the width or the length of the slab depending on whether it is laid transversely or longitudinally with respect to the axis A of the beams. It is noted that the beams adopt a generally elongated shape, of length Lp such that they each support at least one, but preferably several slabs. The space E constituting the joint between the slabs can be more or less open, provided it plays its role: a spacing slabs very important, in addition to being unsightly, could be inconvenient or even dangerous for users, but a gap Too small would prevent free water runoff and stagnation in the interstice by capillary action. The spacing of the slabs can be at least 3 mm, and it is commonly between 3 mm and 5 m. It is also constant for a given terrace, although different spaces can be used. For example, joints may be more widely open in one direction than in the other, for aesthetic or other reasons. Also, the cladding of a terrace can be composed of both square slabs and intercalated rectangular slabs. Multiple combinations can be implemented and form part of the present invention, whether or not specifically described.
Thus, according to a characteristic of the invention, the coating is composed of a plurality of square or rectangular slabs separated by open joints at least 3 mm wide.
According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, the slabs are made of a mineral material. Most of these materials are already used for exterior cladding. They can be chosen in particular from natural stones, sandstones, porcelain stoneware. They offer a wide range of colors and aspects and have good resistance to climatic variations, mechanical stresses and wear. They are also dense, and this density makes it possible to use in the present invention in a particularly original manner, the rough character of these materials, resulting from the nature of the raw material or their manufacturing process. Unexpectedly, it became apparent that the slabs once laid in the intended location, no longer move even if they are not secured to the film separating them from the beams by glue or other means of final fixing. Indeed, the underside of the slabs has a certain roughness (at least they are not polished, or varnished or vitrified) which will promote the grip on the film all the more effectively that the applied mass is high. The installation is simple and fast, and maintenance can be done without difficulty by lifting and simply replacing a damaged slab. Therefore, it is possible, and even advantageous to use slabs of substantial dimensions, for example the classic models of 33x33 cm, or original models by their large size up to 60x60 cm. If however, it is desired a permanent attachment, it can achieve a slight bonding, for example by affixing a few points of a polyurethane glue or other under each slab. This is why, according to a particularly advantageous feature of the invention, the slabs have a rough underside capable of gripping the surface of the sealed film in contact. It is understood from the above that the rough character means above all that the slabs are laid without surface treatment and without glue, directly in contact with the waterproof film, resting on the beams. In the terrace system according to the invention, the waterproof film may extend to the surface of the beams only, or cover the entire area where the beams are arranged. In all cases, it isolates the beams of the slabs. In this way, it prevents the water comes into contact with the beams and causes their degradation. Interestingly, it may include at least one layer of a synthetic material embossed, able to let the water run off. It can be for example PVC (polyvinyl chloride), flexible polymer material, rot and waterproof, easily thermoformable. The relief of the embossing ensures drainage of water and a certain ventilation allowing an efficient flow. It also promotes the attachment of slabs which are thus immobilized because of their mass and the interaction of the surfaces in contact. Another significant advantage, the thickness of the material is a cushion cushioning sound waves generated during walking on the slabs and provides significant acoustic comfort. The set formed slabs and the film is supported on a series of beams arranged parallel to each other with an axial slope of between 0.5% and 5%. Ideally this slope is about 2%, which appeared sufficient for the drainage of the water under the slabs on the surface of the waterproof film, while remaining comfortable, even insensitive, for the users of the terrace and without inconvenience for the stability of the slabs. The film and slabs of the coating thus constitute an inclined plate, sealed at the beams or on the entire surface where the film is placed. The water infiltrating into the interstitial spaces of the slabs will flow to the tight film and escape to the periphery following the slope of the film, or, in the absence of waterproof film, it will s' run under the terrace to the ground, where it will be absorbed. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the waterproof film is held fixed to the beams by a fastening means selected from glue, staple, hook. In a preferred embodiment, a film of polymer material is glued to the beams using an adhesive mortar. Once the film is fixed, the slabs can be placed on the beams, taking care not to damage the film which must remain sealed. According to an interesting embodiment, a band of sealed film is fixed in the workshop to the surface of the beams only.
An essential advantage of the present invention is to save casting a screed. Indeed, the beams are based on clusters of a solid material, these clusters being arranged on the native soil. These piles of solid material do not have a definite form: they are small piles rising on a broad base, which follows from their mode of formation. Indeed, they result from the deposition of said material when it is still loose, the locations to receive a beam. According to the terrace system according to the invention, the clusters of the solid material are arranged under each beam in at least two positions of the axis A, directly on the native soil. If longer beams are used, they can be supported by three clusters. Also a same cluster can support both ends of two beams in extension. The native soil is the land naturally present around the frame receiving the terrace. It can be equalized and packed before installation of the system according to the invention, but there is no need for it to be covered with concrete or in any other way (this is not however forbidden). It is simply recommended that it be sufficiently draining: if the soil is too clayey, you can bring a layer of sand or gravel. The clusters of material are therefore supports beams made in situ from an initially malleable material. Advantageously, the solid material is selected from initially malleable materials capable of solidifying in contact with air, preferably within a few hours, such as concrete, cement, plaster, synthetic materials. According to an advantageous characteristic of the terrace system object of the present invention, the beams are concrete, preferably reinforced concrete. The beams are defined by their length Lp, and are preferably at least twice as long as the side of the tiles they support. Their cross section may be rectangular or preferably trapezoidal, with in this case a relief of one centimeter for example, for reasons mainly related to their method of manufacture. Those skilled in the art know how to calculate their dimensions and proportions in order to meet the constructive constraints. In a particular embodiment, the terrace system according to the invention may comprise two or more series of parallel beams, the beams of a second one. series being arranged in axial extension of the beams of a first series. This arrangement responds to the possibility of building terraces of various shapes and sizes. Whatever the general arrangement of the beams, they should be installed with a maximum spacing to reduce the time and cost of installation, but however such that the slabs are effectively supported. It is indeed imperative that the system supports users without risk of collapse or fracture slabs, while we are looking more and more frequently, for aesthetic reasons, coatings large tiles. If the slabs were classically square format of 33 cm side, they now reach up to 60 cm. This is why, according to an advantageous feature of the present invention, each slab is placed resting on two adjacent beams, the dimension D of the slab being perpendicular to the axes A of said beams, the beams supporting the slab at two side edges. opposed to said slab, a width between 1/20 and 1/5 of the dimension D. There are thus two strips, on either side of each slab, which each rest on a beam, or rather on a half beam width, however being separated by the waterproof film. The whole ensures a good mechanical resistance while preserving open joints and a tightness between the beams and slabs, and with a water evacuation under the slabs. The suspended terrace system which has just been described offers a great flexibility of realization, which makes it possible to adapt it to terrains of very varied nature and relief. It also allows to provide finishes offering the look a clear and beautiful pace, especially with regard to the visible edges of the construction. Indeed, it is possible as much as necessary to adjust the spacing of the beams. On the entire terrace, two slabs come face to face on a beam, leaving only a space E between them. To avoid that part of the beam remains unused and visible on the periphery of the terrace, we can slightly shift the beam inward, that is to say to the nearest beam under the coating, so as to it is covered over its entire width by the slab it supports. The beam can be flush or be recessed underneath the corresponding slab. Thus, according to an advantageous feature of the present invention, the outermost beams of a series, which support the peripheral slabs of the terrace, are arranged at a distance D 'axis to axis of the adjacent beam, the distance D 'being less than the distance D, so that said external beams are completely covered by the peripheral slabs. Finally, you can also have a cover around the edge, by applying a preformed element such as a profiled metal or plastic strip, or by making a masonry joint. The open joint terrace system which has just been described can be implemented easily and inexpensively, for example by an artisan tiler, according to a construction method which is also the subject of the present invention. The present invention therefore has as a second object a method of constructing an open-sided terrace comprising an apparent upper covering composed of a plurality of coplanar slabs placed so as to leave between them a free space E of a few millimeters, the method comprising the steps of: a) - providing a series of beams with longitudinal axis A and length Lp, and slabs whose face intended to be visible has at least one dimension D, b) - deposit directly on the native soil of the clusters of a malleable material able to solidify in contact with the air, c) - arrange on these clusters the beams parallel to each other at a distance D + E axis to axis, with an axial slope between 0.5% and 5%, d) - spread a waterproof film on the beams and fix the film to the beams, and e) - install the slabs resting on the beams, with the dimension D of the slabs perpendicular to the axes A of said beams e t a free space E of a few millimeters between them, so as to constitute an inclined plate, elevated relative to the native soil. Particularly advantageously, in the construction method according to the invention, the native soil is previously stabilized and compacted. In general, a draining soil is naturally preferred or by providing a layer. It may for example be composed of sand, gravel, cast stone, stone or other crushed material, recycled ..., which is flattened and / or mechanically stabilized. According to a preferred characteristic, in step b) of the construction method according to the invention, the clusters of the malleable material are arranged under each truss in at least two positions of the axis A. The artisan will deposit a pile of material, using a trowel or other suitable instrument, directly on the native floor, at a location previously marked so that it corresponds to the desired position of the beam (or beams) that it will receive.
Advantageously, according to the invention in steps b) and c), it is possible to adjust the level and the slope of the beams by modifying the height of the deposited clusters by adding or removing malleable material, or by hammering, before said material is solidified. In doing so, it controls the inclination of the beam with a level, and is proceeded by successive keys until a determined axial slope, between 0.5% and 5%, preferably of the order of 2%. This procedure makes it possible to adjust the position of the beams according to the terrain and the size of the slabs with precision to obtain an excellent flatness, without resorting to sophisticated and restrictive techniques. This system is much easier to place and tilt properly than the one using adjustable studs that was previously used. The waterproof film must be fixed between the apparent cladding and the joists, in one way or another, provided that it can collect the water flowing through the open joints and assist in their evacuation. It is intended according to the invention to fix the film to the beams, rather than the coating itself, although it is the entire coating and the film that realize an inclined plate, raised above the native soil. This attachment can be obtained by various means available to a person skilled in the art. According to a preferred embodiment of the method of construction object of the invention, the waterproof film is fixed along the beams by gluing, stapling or hooking. Preferably, the concrete beams are coated with an adhesive mortar or a polyurethane-based adhesive, to fix a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film in one or more strips. This step can be done on site, after installation of the beams on the malleable material clusters. In the case where it is chosen to place the waterproof film on the surface of the beams, this operation can be performed in the factory, just after the manufacture of the beams, so that the manipulations to be performed on site are as small as possible. Thus, in the construction method according to the invention, step d) can be replaced by a step a0) completing step a), according to which the waterproof film is fixed along the beams by gluing, stapling or hooking. 35 It is important that the terrace has a beautiful aesthetic at the end of construction. In particular, it is desired that the peripheral slabs completely cover the building elements, including the outermost beams that could remain visible at the periphery of the structure. According to an advantageous characteristic of the method which is the subject of the invention, the most external beams of a series which support the peripheral slabs of the terrace are placed at a distance D 'from axis to axis of the adjacent beam, the distance D 'being less than the distance D, so that said beams play their supporting role but are hidden from view. Ideally we add a cover to hide the structure on the vertical side of the building. Finally, according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the construction method will be implemented using preferably the combination of the following materials: a solid material selected from initially malleable materials able to solidify in contact with the air (such as concrete, cement, plaster, synthetic materials); - reinforced concrete beams; a waterproof film comprising at least one layer of embossed synthetic material; slabs made of a mineral material, chosen from natural stones, sandstones and porcelain stoneware. The construction method of the terrace system can be easily implemented by professionals to install terraces of various sizes, formats and aspects, adapting easily to the tastes of each. It facilitates the assembly of the coating in terms of speed as well as perfection and effort to provide. The terraces thus built are robust, not very sonorous and have an excellent longevity thanks on the one hand to the choice of the materials, and on the other hand to the adopted structure, in particular because of an effective drainage of the waters infiltrating in the joints between the slabs.
The present invention will be better understood, and details will arise, thanks to the description that will be made of one of its variants, in relation to the appended figures, in which: the fig.1 is a view of a fragment of a suspended terrace system according to the invention, - fig. 2 is a sectional view along plane B of the same system, above a floor. The system given here as an example is a terrace suspended above a native floor 20 which has an apparent top cover 1 composed of a plurality of coplanar slabs 2 (six square slabs are shown in Fig. 1), the visible face of which has at least one dimension D. The slabs 2 are porcelain tiles 2 cm thick in 60x60 dimension (in cm), laid so as to leave the free space E (open seal) of 3 millimeters between them. The underside of the slabs is rough. The system comprises the waterproof film 5 extending under the slabs 2 of the apparent coating 1 (visible in Figure 2). In the present example, an embossed PVC drainage film (for example a polyethylene mat joined to a synthetic fiber on the lower face and a criss-crossed rib on the upper face marketed by the company Profilitec) was used, cut into strips. 20 cm wide which are placed on the beams 3, so as to cover and isolate the slabs 2 they support. The system also includes a series of beams 3, including the outermost beams 3 '. The beams 3 have a longitudinal axis A and a length Lp = 2 m, with a thickness of 50 mm and a width of 200 mm from the top to 220 mm at the base, which provides a clearance of 10 mm on each side. They are placed parallel to each other along their axis A, at the distance D + E axis to axis, or 60.3 cm. In practice, the adjustment is made when placing a slab next to the slabs already in place, a plastic brace used to maintain the gap between two slabs during the installation phase. The beams 3 are made of reinforced concrete with a reinforcement 6, which consists for example of a lattice of three longitudinal rods 8 mm in diameter welded to transverse rods every 15 cm. They can be manufactured in steel bins on a vibrating table, followed by drying and demolding. They contribute to the maintenance of the waterproof film 5, which is fixed thereto by a glue mortar (for example of type S1). In addition, the beams support the slabs at two opposite side edges, a width of 10 cm, 1/6 of the dimension D = 60 cm of the slab. The beams 3 rest on clusters 4 of a solid material, with an axial slope which may be between 0.5% and 5%, and which is here of the order of 2%. The slabs 2 and the film 5 are supported by the beams 3 so that they constitute the inclined plate 10, elevated relative to the native soil 20. The material is an initially malleable concrete, of conventional type, with a composition for example of 350 kg of cement per m3 of sand and gravel of equal proportions.35 At the edge of the terrace, the outermost beam 3 'is slightly inward, so that it is completely concealed by the peripheral slabs 2 '. A preformed mask 7 of metal or plastic, or finishing rod, is arranged around the edge. This improves the final aesthetics of the system, without impeding the flow of water.
Les finitions périphériques se font également sans délai.15The installation of the suspended terrace system is quick and easy, as the different steps follow one another without having to wait for the drying of a screed or masonry joints. The native soil is simply leveled and compacted. The beams, prefabricated in the workshop and lined with a draining film held by gluing, are laid on two or three clusters of concrete deposited at the desired location. Their level is checked. Then, we immediately put the slabs on top (after gluing the draining film strips with a line of mortar glue if this was not done in the workshop). Peripheral finishes are also done without delay.15
