Description
The present invention relates generally to a vehicle bumper. It is known in the prior art of vehicle bumpers which comprise a traffic light, with a transparent protective glass of this traffic light, as that presented in document JP2009208546. In return, this bumper has the particular disadvantage of being fragile and sensitive to shocks and / or scratches. As a result, the vehicle equipped with such a bumper quickly loses its value, since the transparent ice is scratched, and the costs of replacement are important during a breakage. Finally, the adjustments are quite difficult to control on a bumper, because of the large dimensions of the room, which requires to provide significant games, sources of a drop in perceived quality. An object of the present invention is to meet the drawbacks of the documents of the prior art mentioned above and in particular, first of all, to propose a bumper which increases the perceived quality at the traffic lights, and which improves the behavior over time. For this purpose, a first aspect of the invention relates to a vehicle bumper comprising a wall, the wall being transparent to form a passage window arranged to pass a signaling light of a signaling light, characterized in that the transparent wall is flexible and is arranged to deform reversibly during an impact on the passage window. The traffic light is protected by a flexible material arranged to be able to deform reversibly during an impact. The wall returns in place, and there is no breakage: the traffic light and / or the passage window do not need to be replaced.
Advantageously, the bumper comprises a portion of energy absorption by deformation, arranged to absorb by reversible deformation energy of a shock of energy less than a predetermined energy, received on the energy absorption portion by deformation, and the transparent wall also covers the energy absorption portion by deformation. The structure of the bumper is greatly simplified because it is the same material that is used in the passage window and the energy absorption portion. Advantageously, the deformation energy absorption portion 10 is a reserve of air trapped in the bumper. Advantageously, the shock is a shock against a fixed obstacle with an initial vehicle speed of less than ten kilometers per hour. In other words, the shock in question that can absorb the absorption portion while returning to place after, is a small shock commonly referred to as a parking accident. Advantageously, the transparent wall has an elastic deformation greater than or equal to 20%. Advantageously, the transparent wall is made of thermoplastic polyurethane material. This material is well suited to form the transparent wall because it is transparent or translucent, and resists scratching, cleans well (wash brushes) and is UV-resistant (sunshine). Advantageously, the bumper comprises an opaque mask comprising an opening defining the passage window. This opaque mask 25 makes it possible to improve the perceived quality of the assemblies by hiding them. It is then impossible to see from the outside the adjustments or games between the bumper and the traffic light. This also makes it possible to standardize the traffic light between several vehicles because the visible (vehicle-specific) contours are defined by the opaque mask 30 and not the traffic light.
Advantageously, the opaque mask is an opaque film molded into the bumper. Such a film makes it possible to customize a standard bumper, without having all the tools for manufacturing the bumper to be modified.
Advantageously, the opaque film comprises at least one printed pattern. According to this implementation, the film becomes a support and can be painted, printed by inkjet or screen printing to customize the bumper. Advantageously, the transparent wall is arranged to define an air gap trapped between the traffic light and the transparent wall. The signal light is perfectly protected because the air space will act as a spring. Advantageously, the bumper comprises the traffic light which is integrated in the bumper. Advantageously, the bumper forms a vehicle rear bumper. A second aspect of the invention is a motor vehicle comprising at least one bumper according to the first aspect of the invention. Other features and advantages of the present invention will appear more clearly on reading the following detailed description of an embodiment of the invention given by way of non-limiting example and illustrated by the appended drawings, in which: FIG. 1 represents a perspective rear view of a bumper according to the invention; - Figure 2 shows a sectional view of the bumper of Figure 1.
The signaling light is arranged behind a wall 11 of the bumper 10, which is transparent at a window of passage 12.
In addition to the traffic light 20, the bumper 10 includes a deformation energy absorption portion 30 which is shown in broken lines. This deformation energy absorbing portion 30 includes an air pocket trapped in the bumper 10 and may deform upon a low intensity impact and then return to position.
For this purpose, the wall 11 is made of thermoplastic polyurethane material at the portion of energy absorption by deformation 30. This material has good characteristics of elasticity and robustness. The invention proposes to use a transparent or translucent thermoplastic polyurethane material to form the wall 11 at the deformation energy absorption portion 30, but also at the passage window 12. The bumper 10 is thus simplified and an opaque film 15 overmolded in the wall 11 easily defines the contour of the passage window 12, forming an opaque mask.
The opaque film 15 thus hides the interior of the bumper 10, except at the passage window 12. There are several advantages provided by the use of an overmolded opaque film. First, the opaque film can be painted, stained, inkjet printed or screen printed to personalize the bumper without any impact on the manufacturing tools. Then, the opaque film 15 is cut to include an aperture which defines the passage window 12, independently of the signaling light 20, which allows the use of a standard signaling light, which assemblies on the bumper 10 or the bodywork is masked by the opaque film 15. This improves the perceived quality of the vehicle. FIG. 2 is a section of the bumper 10 along the axis II-II of FIG. 1. The wall 11 which is made of the same material between the deformation energy absorption portion 30 and the window of FIG. passage 12, can therefore be deformed reversibly after a shock of low intensity. The invention provides for enclosing an air gap 14 between the transparent wall 11 and the signaling light 20. This air gap provides a damping effect on the bumper 10 during an impact, so that the fire signaling 20 is effectively protected. The opaque film 15 is shown behind the wall 11 for the simplification of FIG. 2, but it should be noted that it is part of this wall 11, and may be overmoulded in the wall 11, or possibly bonded to this wall 11.
It will be understood that various modifications and / or improvements obvious to those skilled in the art can be made to the various embodiments of the invention described herein without departing from the scope of the invention defined by the appended claims.
