Description
The present invention relates to a safety tip for a cane comprising a foot connected to a cane support by at least one connecting means, said cane support comprising at least one support element. coupling means arranged to receive and lock in position a lower end of said rod. The present invention also relates to a rod having at least one arm provided at its upper end with gripping means. The invention relates to the technical field of canes rod type English for people with reduced mobility or any other type of simple cylindrical cane facilitating walking (bamboo rods and / or ending in cone / tip are to proscribe, as well as "white canes" for the visually impaired). More specifically, the technical field of the invention relates to a safety tip for a cane, in particular to stabilize and secure the user's walk on all floors and at all times by a tip of appropriate design. Usually, a walking stick or an English cane consists of an arm provided at one lower end with a standard rubber tip and at the other end with gripping means. The standard tip has the function of adhering and adapting to the surface of the ground to stabilize the cane and secure the person during walking. However, the bearing surface of such a standard nozzle, usually a circular disk, is not suitable for any type of soil, which therefore gives the rod a low stability. Indeed, in this configuration, there is a risk of falling for the user if the cane slips, for example, when the soil is wet or irregular. In addition, another disadvantage is that the cane does not stand alone and must be leaning against a wall or other. It often happens that it slips and falls to the ground. It is difficult or even impossible for the person with reduced mobility to pick up the cane when it is on the ground. A safety tip solution has been developed by the applicant and has been the subject of the following publications FR 2,614,529, FR 2,637,178 and FR 2,715,559. This safety tip is adaptable to a standard cane or a cane. English in place of the standard tip and has a foot in the form of a five-pointed star, giving the user better stability in use and stability in vertical position. In addition, it comprises a ball joint connecting a cane support, in which is introduced by force the lower end of the cane, said foot. The ball joint allows a 360 degree rotation of the cane support relative to the foot. In addition, return means are provided in the ball joint, to allow, on the one hand, to ensure a vertical position to the rod when it is not used, and secondly, to straighten easily the cane when it fell to the ground by pressing with the foot on the foot of the tip. However, even if such safety tips give very satisfactory results, with regard to the safety of the person and the stability of the cane both in the vertical position not used, and in use, these present the 'disadvantage of not being able to be mounted on all rods and whatever their diameter. Indeed, existing rods on the market may have different diameters depending on the manufacturers and the different types of rods. It is then necessary to provide tips of different diameters that can be adapted to each corresponding rod diameter. This presents a considerable disadvantage for the tip manufacturer who is forced to make adaptations for the rod diameters out of the current 16-20 mm range. In addition, the mounting of such a safety tip must be made in force by means of a hammer or a mallet to lock the safety tip at the lower end of the cane, which presents a difficulty for the person. Another disadvantage of such a safety tip is related to the mechanical limit of inclination of the ball joint. Indeed, the safety tip can be used safely for a maximum inclination of about 30 degrees. Beyond this maximum inclination, there may be risks of rupture of the patella, making the cane unusable and often irreparable. In this case, it is then necessary to replace the safety tip.
OF THE INVENTION The present invention aims to overcome these disadvantages by providing a safety tip universally adaptable to any diameter rod and allowing a risk-free tilt for the tip, while ensuring maximum safety of the person and stability of the cane in vertical position of rest and easy recovery of the cane in a horizontal position. For this purpose, the invention relates to a safety tip for a rod of the type indicated in the preamble, characterized in that the coupling means comprises at least one locking member and at least one actuating member, said actuating member being arranged to be operated manually and to move said locking member between an open position allowing the introduction of the lower end of a rod and a closed position locking said lower end of said rod in said security tip prohibiting its withdrawal.
In this way, the invention makes it possible to automatically adapt the diameter of the cane support to the diameter of the lower end of the cane after its introduction, to lock the lower end of the cane in the mouthpiece and, if necessary, Unlock the lower end of the cane to remove the safety tip from the cane. In a preferred form of the invention, said actuating member is mounted in axial rotation around a central axis on said rod support, and comprises at least one movement transformation element arranged to transform said axial rotation movement of said actuating member, in a radial translational movement of said locking member.
Preferably, the actuating member comprises at least one ring provided in its internal volume with at least one cam forming said movement transformation element, and said locking member comprises at least one arm rotatably mounted around a pivot axis on the rod support, the pivot axis being parallel to said central axis and said arm being arranged to cooperate with said cam between said open and closed positions. Said ring is advantageously formed by assembling a lower half-ring and an upper half-ring.
In the preferred embodiment, said arm comprises a curved lever whose one end comprises said pivot axis and a second end comprises on the one hand a transverse stop arranged to cooperate with a cam profile of said cam and on the other hand a friction pad located opposite to said transverse stop arranged to exert a friction force on said lower end of the rod when it is inserted into said safety tip and said locking member is in the closed position. Preferably, said cam profile is notched and has a decreasing radius, with respect to said central axis, from the open position to the closed position.
In the preferred embodiment, said connecting means comprises a ball joint connection defined by a female ball joint, linked to said support rod, fitting on a male ball joint, integral with said foot, allowing an angle of inclination corresponding to the angle between the origin axis perpendicular to said foot and the central axis of said cane support. Preferably, the female ball is open and defines a half-sphere.
According to a preferred variant of the invention, said connecting means further comprises at least one return member arranged to return the rod support to a substantially zero angle of inclination coinciding with said original axis to ensure the vertical position of the rod and to allow an inclination angle of between 0 degrees and a threshold angle of inclination beyond which said female ball can disengage from said male ball. According to a preferred variant of the invention, the threshold angle of inclination is at least approximately between 25 and 35 degrees and preferably equal to 30 degrees.
In this case, said return member consists of a pre-stressed damping sleeve of elastic material mounted around the ball joint and prestressed between said foot and said rod support. Preferably, said foot comprises a star-shaped base comprising five branches, each branch carrying a non-slip damping pad. Finally, the invention also relates to a rod as defined in the preamble, characterized in that it comprises at its lower end a safety tip as defined above.
OF THE DRAWINGS The present invention and its advantages will become more apparent in the following description of an embodiment given by way of non-limiting example, with reference to the appended drawings, in which: FIG. 1 represents a sectional view FIG. 2 is an axial sectional view of the safety tip of FIG. 1 inclined with respect to the ground by an angle equal to 30 degrees; FIG. 3 is an axial sectional view of the safety tip according to the invention; is a cross-sectional view along the X axis of the safety tip of FIG. 1, showing the blocking members in the open position without a cane, and FIG. 4 is a view similar to FIG. locking in the closed position on a lower end of a small diameter rod. Illustrations of the invention and the best way to make it: With reference to the figures, the safety tip 1 for rod C includes a foot 2 connected to a cane support 3 by connecting means 4. The cane support 3 allows to receive the lower end 6 of a rod C and fix it by means of coupling means 10, 12. These further allow to adapt the safety tip 1 to any type of rod and that whatever their diameter.
For this purpose and as shown in Figures 3 and 4, the coupling means comprise a locking member 12 and an actuating member 10. The actuating member comprises a ring 10 movable in rotation about a central axis 33 of the rod support 3, while the locking member comprises three pivoting arms 12 inside the volume of the ring 10. On the one hand, the ring 10 is guided in rotation on the rod support 3 and formed, in the example shown, by assembling a lower half-ring 25 with an upper half-ring 26, made for example of polyacetal or the like. As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the assembly of the half-rings 25, 26 is made for example by clipping or any other equivalent means, preferably indémontable. In addition, the outer diameter of the upper and lower half-rings 25, 26 is knurled, to facilitate gripping and manipulation of the ring 10. On the other hand, the three arms 12 are equidistant from the central axis 33 and are rotatably mounted on the rod support 3, about their respective pivot axis 13. The arms 12 are preferably made of polyamide filled with glass or any other similar material. More particularly, each arm 12 comprises a curved lever 14, the first end 15 forms the pivot axis 13 with the rod support 3. The second end 16, for its part, comprises a notched transversal stop 17. In addition, a friction pad 19, preferably made of elastomer, is also provided on the opposite side of the transverse stop 17 facing the central axis 33. With reference to FIGS. 3 and 4, the ring 10 is external to the support rod 3 and rotatably mounted around it. The ring 10 is arranged to be operated by the user and to communicate a movement to the arms 12, which are internal to the rod support 3. The arms 12 can thus be moved between an open position PO and a closed position PF. The open position PO makes it possible to introduce the lower end 6 of the rod C into the rod support 3, whereas the closed position PF makes it possible to lock the lower end 6 of the rod C in the rod support 3, to secure the safety tip 1 to the rod C. Advantageously, the arms 12 define a clamping circumference inside the rod support 3 which varies as a function of the rotational movement of the ring 10. In position open PO, the circumference is maximum, and allows the introduction of the lower end 6 of the rod C, while in closed position, the circumference is minimal and allows to lock the lower end 6 of the rod C by the intermediate of the arms 12, preventing any axial rotation of the ring 10. Between the open position PO and the closed position PF, the axial rotation movement communicated to the arms 12 makes it possible to vary the circumference, to make it correspond the diameter of the lower end 6 of the rod C introduced into the safety tip 1. The diameter of the lower end 6 of the rod C may be included in 12 mm and 25.4 mm which are the most common diameters. Of course, these values are given for information only and are not limiting.
To move the arms 12, from the open position PO to the closed position PF, the ring 10 comprises a movement transformation element 11 which transforms the axial rotational movement of the ring 10 into a radial translation movement of the arms 12. More particularly, the ring 10 has in its interior volume three cams 11 equidistant from the central axis 33 forming said movement transformation element. Indeed, the inner diameter of the upper and lower half-rings 25, 26 comprises over all or part of their height the cams 11 which are defined by three curved and notched cam profiles 18, whose radius with respect to the central axis 33 is decreasing from the open position PO to the closed position PF, the cams 11 being each terminated by a shoulder 34. Of course, the number of cams 11 can vary, it being specified that the number three is optimal. The number of cams 11 is equal to the number of arms 12. Indeed, each arm 12 cooperates with a cam 11 as shown in Figures 3 and 4. As shown in Figure 3 in the open position PO, the transverse stop 17 of the arms 12 cooperates with the end of the cam profiles 18 whose radius is furthest from the central axis 3, so that the circumference defined between the three friction pads 19 is as large as possible. In this open position PO, the transverse stop 17 of each arm 12 bears against the shoulder 34 of the preceding cam 11, delimiting the open position PO and the angular displacement of the ring 10. Between the open position PO and the position closed PF, the respective transverse stops 17 of the arms 12 circulate along the respective toothed cam profiles 18. The radius of the cam profiles 18 is decreasing relative to the central axis 33 so that as the transverse stops 17 move along the cams 18, the circumference defined between the three pads 19 decreases. Finally, in the closed position PF on a lower end 6 of a rod C, the friction pads 19 come into contact with the lower end 6 of the rod C and exert a friction force F towards the central axis 33 The transverse stops 17 can no longer move along the cam profiles 18 and are locked in position on each cam profile 18, which locks the lower end 6 of the rod C in the rod support 3. Because of this, that the arms 12 are locked on the cam profiles 18, any rotation of the ring 10 relative to the support rod 3 is prohibited. The movement of the arms 12 relative to the cam profiles 18 makes it possible to vary the inner circumference of the rod support 3 between 11.5 mm and 26 mm in the example shown. Advantageously, this configuration allows the user to exert a small force on the actuating means 10, while ensuring effective locking of the safety tip 1 on the lower end 6 of the rod C. The tip safety 1 can thus be easily attached to the rod C, regardless of its diameter, type or strength of the user and without any tools.
With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, the cane support 3 is connected to the foot 2 by a connecting means 4. The cane support 3 is preferably made of polyacetal or any equivalent material. This connecting means 4 comprises a ball joint connection defined by a female ball 20, connected to the rod support 3, fitting on a male ball 21, connected to the foot 2. The female ball 20 is for example made of polyacetal loaded with bisulphide molybdenum or any similar material. It is extended by a female end piece 29 which receives a portion of a male end piece 30 of the cane support 3 forming a Morse taper described below. The male ball 21, made for example of polyacetal or the like, fits on a stud 28 of a base 27 defining the foot 2 to which it is secured. As shown in FIG. 2, the ball joint 20, 21 allows an angle of inclination A corresponding to the angle between the axis of origin 35 perpendicular to the base 27 of the foot 2 and the central axis 33 of the rod support 3. Advantageously, this configuration makes it possible to authorize an angle of inclination A of between 0 degrees and an angle of inclination A threshold beyond which the female ball 20 can dislodge the male roture 21, this angle A threshold inclination being at least approximately between 25 and 35 degrees and preferably equal to 30 degrees. In addition, the ball joint allows the rod support 3 to rotate at an angle of 360 degrees around the original axis 35. As shown in Figure 2, the female ball 20 is open and defines a half-sphere , to allow said female ball 20 to be dislodged from said male ball 21 in the event of exceeding the threshold angle of inclination A.
In addition, the connecting means 4 comprises a return member 22 in the form of a sleeve made for example of elastomer or any equivalent material. It is linked to the foot 2 and the cane support 3 in a constrained manner. To do this, the height of the return member 22, unconstrained and before assembly, is less than the height of the ball joint connection between the foot 2 and the rod holder 3. When assembling the endpiece 1, the return member 22 is arranged around the female ball 20 by means of a damping support 36, also in the form of a sleeve provided with a shoulder for resting on the upper end. the female endpiece 29. The shock absorber support 36 is made for example of polyacetal or any other equivalent material. The return member 22 comprises at its lower end a peripheral groove 37 jammed in force in the base 27 by a retaining ring 38 clipped into said base 27 and putting stress on the return member 22. The retaining ring 38 is made for example of polyamide or equivalent material. The return member 22 is thus tensioned in a constrained manner between the foot 2 and the rod support 3 to enable the rod support 3 to be brought back to a zero inclination angle A, coinciding with said original central axis. 35. This configuration aims to ensure the vertical position of the rod C and prevent it from falling to the ground. In addition, the return member 22 serves to maintain the engagement of the female ball 20 in the male ball 21 for an angle between 0 degrees and the angle of inclination A threshold. In the inclined position of the rod, the return member 22 compresses on the inclined side and is tensioned on the other side. Beyond this angle of inclination A threshold, the female ball 20 can dislodge the male ball 21 while being contained within the return member 22 which allows its automatic re-entry. Advantageously, the combination of the return member 22 and the open female ball 20 makes it possible not to break the safety tip 1, avoiding the rupture of the ball joint 20, 21, during an occasional passing of the ball. angle of inclination A threshold, and allowing its re-entry.
As shown in Figures 3 and 4, the base 2 comprises a base 27 in the form of a star with five branches 24. This is made for example of polyamide or any other equivalent material. FIG. 1 shows that each branch 24 comprises a housing 39 into which a non-slip damping pad 40 protruding from the housing 39 is inserted, to be in direct contact with the ground, to prevent any slipping and to avoid using the base 27. Such non-slip damping pads 40 are for example made of bi-material elastomer such as polyamide and elastomer. Consequently, they make it possible to secure the person, to prevent premature wear of the foot 2, to absorb the unevenness of the ground, to dampen the impact of the mouthpiece with the ground and to ensure a good grip on the ground. the soil, even wet.
Advantageously, the damping pads 40 are easily replaceable when worn. During the final assembly, the assembly comprising the foot 2 assembled with the connecting means 4 and the return member 22 is connected to the support rod 3. This assembly is done by interlocking the male end 30 of the support 3, forming a Morse taper, in the female portion 29 of the female ball 20. The Morse taper 30 locks when it is introduced into the shock absorber support 36 and thus locks the assembly of all the component parts In addition, an anti-friction element 41, in the form of a flat washer, is disposed between the rod support 3 and the return member 22, for example made of Teflon® or the like, to enable the rotation of the ring 10 relative to the fixed return member 22. The shape of the antifriction element 41 is not limited to a flat washer, but may also consist of a washer comprising a lateral clamping ring, to allow clamping of the friction element 41 on the upper end of the return member 22. The clamping lateral ring is integral with the washer and the assembly forms a single piece. Preferably, the clamping is done in an adjusted and permanent manner by the clamping side ring on the upper end of the return member 22. This configuration makes it possible to avoid the deformation of the end of the return member 22 due to the rotation of the ring 10 and thus to prevent the return member 22 from disengaging. Of course, any other equivalent anti-friction means is conceivable. Possibilities of industrial application: It is clear from this description that the invention makes it possible to achieve the goals set, namely to propose a safety tip universally adaptable to any diameter of cane and allowing an occasional inclination greater than 30 degrees without risk for the user neither for the safety tip, while ensuring maximum safety for the person on any type of ground even wet, as well as stability in vertical position of rest and easy recovery of the cane in horizontal position.
The present invention is not limited to the embodiment described but extends to any modification and variation obvious to a person skilled in the art while remaining within the scope of protection defined in the appended claims.
