Description
The invention relates in particular to an optical unit, in particular for a signaling and / or lighting device for a motor vehicle. EP 1 762 776 discloses a light projector module, using a lens, capable of producing a cut-off beam of the motorway beam type. A disadvantage of this module is related to the slightly "banana" shape of this motorway beam, this beam having excessively low ends which are ineffective from a photometric point of view. The present invention aims in particular to avoid this type of disadvantage. The invention thus relates to an optical unit, in particular for a motor vehicle signaling and / or lighting device, arranged to produce a complementary light beam intended to be used with a main light beam, this complementary beam having a particularly flat cutoff, this unit comprising: at least one substantially isotropic or lambertian light emission light source, in particular an LED, at least one lens associated with this light source to participate in the production of the complementary beam, this lens having a corrugated face, different from a pure stigmatic lens face, arranged to obtain the complementary bundle with rectified side edges.
"Isotropic source" means a source whose intensity is independent of the angle of observation, within the solid angle containing all its rays.
A Lambertian source, for its part, has a luminance independent of the point considered on the surface of the emitter and the angle of observation inside the solid angle containing all rays. The image focus of the corrugated lens is preferably at infinity.
The invention makes it possible, thanks to the appropriate corrugated surface of the lens, to obtain a beam, in particular a complementary, relatively thin and spreading free-form motorway beam, which is not in the form of a "banana" and which, in overlap with a beam code, gives a satisfactory luminous homogeneity. Preferably, the lens has a basic geometrical surface, which surface is fictitious, corresponding in particular to an exit face of a rigorously stigmatic lens. Advantageously, the corrugated face of the lens comprises corrugations of variable slope, this slope being measured with respect to the geometrical base surface, this slope preferably being all the greater as the undulation is removed from a center of the lens. , so as to produce a single maximum illumination zone in the complementary beam, and no secondary maxima zones. The invention thus makes it possible to avoid the appearance, in the complementary bundle, of distinct light spots (which may cause discomfort for the driver of the vehicle). This makes this complementary beam relatively homogeneous. In an exemplary implementation of the invention, the optical unit has an optical axis, and each undulation is formed on a strip, this strip preferably extending substantially rectilinearly when the lens is observed along the axis. optical. Advantageously, the corrugations are substantially parallel to each other. If necessary, the amplitude of the corrugations is increasing as the considered wave is removed from the center of the lens. This amplitude is preferably measured with respect to the basic geometrical surface (which is fictitious) of the lens.
In an exemplary implementation of the invention, the lens is arranged to give a point of light point located at its object focus, a substantially horizontal light line when the corrugations of the lens are placed substantially vertically.
If desired, the lens is made in one piece. Where appropriate, the wavy face of the lens is arranged as the exit face of the light. In an exemplary implementation of the invention, the light source comprises a LED (light-emitting diode) with a plane light emitter, the plane of this emitter advantageously extending in an inclined manner with respect to the optical axis. Preferably, the plane of the transmitter is neither perpendicular nor parallel to the optical axis. Advantageously, the object focus of the lens is placed substantially in the center of a lower edge of the emitter of the light source.
Where appropriate, the lens has a substantially circular periphery, or rectangular or trapezoidal, when it is observed along the optical axis. The optical unit has a top and a bottom when in place on the vehicle. This unit may further comprise a reflector placed in the unit, in order to intercept at least a portion of the light rays from the light source so as to create an upwardly defocused image, which image, projected and spread through the lens, completes the complementary beam downwards. In an exemplary implementation of the invention, the optical unit has an axis transverse to the optical axis and extending substantially horizontally when the unit is mounted on the vehicle, and the reflector has a substantially sectoral shape. of cylinder of transverse axis. Advantageously, the reflector comprises a front edge located between the lens and the light source.
The subject of the invention is also a lighting and / or signaling device, in particular a motor vehicle, comprising: a main optical unit capable of producing a main light beam, in particular a passing beam, an optical unit such as as defined above, capable of producing a complementary beam having a particularly flat cut-off, the main and complementary beams forming a global beam, this overall beam being in particular a motorway beam of range preferably greater than or equal to 100 meters.
For example, the motorway beam has a horizontal cutoff located between a horizontal plane and an inclined plane of 0.57 ° downwards to the left or right of the optical axis, depending on the type of traffic (left or right traffic, respectively). ). This cutoff line is preferably located in a plane inclined 0.29 ° downwards. This highway beam may, in particular, have a higher maximum intensity of 800/0 than a conventional code using a source of the same nature. In an exemplary implementation of the invention, the device is arranged so that the complementary beam is lit only when the vehicle is traveling at a speed greater than a predetermined threshold (non-zero), this threshold being for example substantially equal to 110 km / h. In the case where the vehicle has a navigation system to know the type of road on which it travels, the device according to the invention can be unconditionally activated on the highway. The subject of the invention is also a method for producing a light beam, in particular a motorway beam, for a motor vehicle, in particular using an optical unit as defined above, this method comprising the following step: a complementary beam including a substantially flat cutoff and having a single maximum illumination area.
The invention can be better understood on reading the following detailed description of an example of non-limiting implementation of the invention, and on examining the appended drawing, in which: FIG. , schematically and partially, various elements of an optical unit according to an exemplary implementation of the invention, - Figure 2 shows, schematically and partially, the geometric sectional profile of the lens of the unit of Figure 1, - Figures 3 and 4 illustrate the variation of characteristic magnitudes of the profile of the lens of the unit of Figure 1, - Figure 5 shows, schematically and partially, intercepted by a screen perpendicular to the optical axis, a beam obtained by means of the lens of the unit of FIG. 1, without the presence of the reflector; FIGS. 6 and 7 show, schematically and partially, in section, the emitter and the reflector of the optical unit of FIG. 1, and - Figure 8 shows, schematically and partially, intercepted by a screen perpendicular to the optical axis, a beam obtained through the lens of the unit of Figure 1, with the presence of the reflector.
FIG. 1 shows an optical unit 1 for a motor vehicle lighting device D, arranged to produce a complementary light beam FC intended to be used with a main light beam produced by another optical unit 30; complementary bundle FC having a substantially flat cutoff C (see cutoff C in FIGS. 5 and 8).
The optical unit 30 may optionally be LED. The complementary beam FC may be a complementary, relatively thin and spreading free-form motorway beam, which is not in the form of a "banana", and the main beam may be a code beam. In a variant not shown, it is possible to arrange the device to enable it to produce a bad weather beam, for example of class W. This unit 1 comprises: a light source 2 with a substantially isotropic or Lambertian light emission formed in the example described by an LED, - a lens 3 having an object focus F and an image focus, this image focus being at infinity, this lens 3 being associated with the light source 2 to produce the complementary beam FC, this lens having a corrugated face 4, of different shape of a pure stigmatic lens face, arranged to obtain the complementary beam FC.
As seen in Figures 5 and 8, the cut C is formed by lateral edges BL which are straightened, namely substantially parallel to a horizontal line, and not falling relative to this horizontal line. The lens 3 has a basic geometrical surface SB, which surface is fictitious, corresponding in particular to an exit face of a rigorously stigmatic lens (see FIG. 2). The corrugated face 4 of the lens 3 comprises corrugations 5 of variable slope, this slope being measured relative to the basic geometric surface SB, this slope being all the greater as the corrugation 5 is moved away from a center CO of the lens, so as to produce a single zone of maximum illumination ZMax in the complementary beam FC (see Figures 5 and 8). The invention thus makes it possible to avoid the appearance, in the complementary bundle FC, of several local illumination maxima and thus of distinct light tasks (which may cause discomfort for the driver of the vehicle). The invention thus makes it possible to make this complementary bundle FC relatively homogeneous. In the example under consideration, the optical unit has an optical axis Ox (see FIG. 6), and each undulation 5 is formed on a strip 7 of the lens 3, each strip 7 extending substantially rectilinearly when the lens 3 is observed along the optical axis Ox.
Les ondulations 5 sont sensiblement parallèles entre elles. The corrugations 5 are substantially parallel to each other.
The amplitude of the corrugations 5 is increasing as the undulation considered is moved away from the center CO of the lens 3. This amplitude is preferably measured with respect to the basic geometrical surface SB (which is fictitious) of the lens 3.
The lens 3 is arranged to give, from a point light point located at its object focus F, a substantially horizontal light line when the corrugations of the lens are placed substantially vertically. The corrugated face 4 of the lens 3 is arranged in the unit 1 as the exit face of the light.
The other face 9 of the lens 3, opposite the face 4, is for example flat. This notably makes it possible to reduce the aberrations substantially. The lens 3 (whose fictitious geometric base surface SB defines a stigmatic lens) receives on its output face 4 the modulations 5, which depend only on the lateral coordinate and vary so that the amounts of luminous flux deflected towards the left and right are balanced (in order to avoid that the left and right half lenses have luminous intensity maxima offset with respect to H = 0, which would give an inhomogeneous total beam with two intensity maxima, from other than H = 0). H is the angle of an observation direction of the beam with a vertical plane containing the optical axis. Let M [X, Y, Z] = F (u, v) be a parametric equation of the exit surface 4 of the basic stigmatic lens (an equation that can be established by those skilled in the art for a draw, a face input and a given material, in the following example the draft is 70 mm, the input face is flat and the material is PMMA).
We consider: axis of x = optical axis, axis of z = vertical. The equation of the exit face 4 of the lens 3 of the invention is of the form m [x, y, z] = F (u, v) + f (u, v) where f (u, v) = [8 x (Y (u, v)), 0,0] is a pseudo periodic function of Y za 8x (Y) = 0 a8x (Y)> 0 and where, for all Y1 such that aY and aY and for any Y2 such that az8x a8x a8x a8x aYz (Y2) = 0 aY (Yz) <0 Y 11 <1y2 aY (Y) <- aY (Yz) and (*) The modulation function 8 x is then such that the deviations are larger on the side corresponding to the areas of the lens 3 furthest from the axis (and receiving less flux). The following simple function (represented graphically in FIG. 3) satisfies the conditions (and is used in the exemplary embodiment): (8x = 8 -sin27c Y ~ Y ~ L ~ R 10 where L is a stripe width, R the radius of the lens, 8 a modulation amplitude and p a positive real (L = 6, R = 30, 8 = 0.25, p = 0.9 in the embodiment) a8x (Y) is represented graphically in Figure 4. It should be noted that a simple sinusoidal modulation would not be appropriate because the condition (*) above would not be respected (one would then obtain two local maxima on either side of the plane H = The LED 2 is a planar light emitter 10, the plane of this emitter 10 extending inclined with respect to the optical axis Ox, as can be seen in FIG. the emitter 10 is neither perpendicular nor parallel to the optical axis. The object focus F of the lens 3 is placed substantially in the center of a lower edge 11 of the emitter 10 of the light source 2. In the example described, the lens 3 has a substantially circular periphery 12. The optical unit has a top and a bottom when in place on the vehicle. p aY This unit 1 further comprises, in particular to improve the melting of the main and complementary beams, a reflector 15 placed in the unit 1, in order to intercept at least a portion of the light rays coming from the transmitter 10 of the source of light 2 so as to create an image spread upwards and defocused backwards, image which, projected and spread by the lens, completes the complementary beam down (see Figure 8). The rear edge 21 of the reflector 15 defines with the upper edge of the transmitter 10 a non-zero distance d, which in the example described, depends on the encapsulation of the LED. This distance d is characteristic of the zone of the emitter 10 which is hidden vis-à-vis the reflector 15. In the example described, the optical unit 1 has an axis Oy transverse to the optical axis Ox and s' extending substantially horizontally when the unit 1 is mounted on the vehicle. The reflector 15 has a shape substantially in cylinder sector of transverse axis Oy. The reflector 15 has a front edge 22 located between the lens 3 and the light source 2. In the example considered, the reflector 15 is placed so that not to hide the bottom of the transmitter 10, which must be seen from the entire input face 9 of the lens 3 (in order not to reduce the intensity under the cutoff) and so as to cover a fraction of the top of the transmitter 10 (seen from the input face 9 of the lens) to allow a good fusion of the beam it creates and the main beam (in direct light). This reflector 15 can thus take the form of a transverse axis cylinder Oy, longer than the emitter. The cross section of the cylinder may be a parabola or a spline curve for example of degree 3 which approaches it (and allows, by adjusting the voltages at its ends, to adjust the shape of the beam). For the cross section of the reflector 15, it is possible to take a parabolic arc of the same focus as the lens 3, passing through P and stopped on or shortly before the boundary line or a spline (see Figure 7).
Dans un exemple de mise en oeuvre de l'invention, le dispositif est agencé de manière à ce que le faisceau complémentaire soit allumé seulement lorsque le véhicule roule à une vitesse supérieure à un seuil prédéterminé (non nul), ce seuil étant par exemple sensiblement égal à Il o km/h.5 In an exemplary implementation of the invention, the device is arranged so that the complementary beam is lit only when the vehicle is traveling at a speed greater than a predetermined threshold (non-zero), this threshold being for example substantially equal to Il o km / h.5
