Abstract

The invention relates to a method for authorising the engagement of a starter with an internal combustion engine at the end of the course of the engine, a sensor detecting a marking coupled to the engine and consisting of alternating teeth, and emitting a signal with rising and falling edges. The invention is characterised in that the method comprises, after detection of a rising or falling edge: the modelling of the variation of the speed of the engine based on the measurements of the sensor; an increase in the speed by a maximum marker; a decrease in the speed by a minimum marker; and the engagement of the starter if the maximum marker is lower than a maximum threshold speed and if the minimum marker is higher than a minimum threshold speed. The invention also relates to a vehicle enabling said method to be implemented. The invention prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards on a slope.
