Abstract
Description
Domaine qénéral de l'invention General field of the invention
The invention relates to the field of the treatment of polluted land. More particularly, it proposes a device for lime treatment of soil polluted by low volatility organic compounds.
State of the Prior Art The main technique known to date for treating soil polluted by low volatility organic compounds (heavy fuel oil, PAHs, PCBs, etc.) is that of thermal desorption, which consists in heating the polluted soil. so that the pollutants volatilize. Thermal desorption, however, is very energy intensive. It is also responsible for significant gaseous releases. There is therefore today a need for a polluted soil treatment technique that does not have these disadvantages. We also want to have a technique for treating polluted soils that is very simple and that allows the recovery of polluted land in building materials.
General presentation of the invention The invention proposes a processing unit that meets these needs. More specifically, it is proposed a unit for the treatment of soil polluted by low volatility organic compounds, by powdered quicklime, which comprises: • a mixing chamber at the outlet of the feed hopper and the storage silo, said chamber providing continuous mixing of the polluted earth and pulverulent lime; a controlled heating screw reactor which receives the mixture at the outlet of the mixing chamber; A thermo-regulated enclosure reactor in which the mixture at the outlet of the regulated heating screw is received for a determined period of time.
Such a treatment unit makes it possible to thoroughly mix the polluted soil with powdered quicklime, before introducing the mixture into a thermoregulated enclosure for a determined period of time. In this way, a chemical treatment of polluted soil is carried out, the reagent used being quicklime (CaO). In particular, it was found that such a treatment unit allowed the following operation: • in a first step, the temperature increases very rapidly (under the action of the hydrolysis of quicklime) to reach a hundred degrees centigrade, • in a second time, it increases linearly up to a first threshold (about 200 ° C), under the effect of the regulation of the enclosure, • in a third time, and before having reaches the setpoint temperature of the enclosure, the increase in temperature accelerates. The temperature exceeds the set point temperature of the enclosure before stabilizing. The evolution of temperatures during this phase highlights the existence of an exothermic chemical reaction between lime and pollutants. It can be seen at the output that the concentrations of organic compounds present in the earth have undergone an abatement close to 100%, corrected by the addition of lime. Such a treatment makes it possible to valorize this polluted soil in a material suitable for use in technical embankments (underlayment of pavement, paving of pavements, backfilling of trenches, etc.). It also has a very favorable environmental balance, particularly in two areas: • low energy consumption (100 to 150 KWh / t against 600 to 1000 KWh / t for thermal desorption), • very low volume of gaseous effluents discharge. (On the order of 5 00 m3 / h against the order of 50 000 m3 / h for thermal desorption). The treatment unit proposed is also very simple and highly modular, which allows on-site interventions for large ranges of quantities of materials to be treated.
The invention also provides a method for the treatment of soil polluted by low volatility organic compounds, in which the polluted soil is mixed with powdered quicklime, then the mixture is raised in temperature and maintained at a given temperature. during a predetermined period, these different steps being implemented by means of a processing unit of the aforementioned type.
