Abstract
The invention consists of an accelerometer placed on an individual that detects and quantifies its movements in 1, 2 or 3 axes. A processing of the signals representative of these movements makes it possible to deduce important information such as the relative intensity and / or the periodicity of the movements. This information is then linked to the scrolling speed of a multimedia production to modulate it according to the movements of the individual. The device according to the invention is intended to create a playful environment for the practice of physical activities.
Description
The present invention relates to a device for detecting and quantifying the movements of an individual to enslave images or video projections from a camera in continuous motion.
During an indoor physical activity that is fun type, exercise maintenance or rehabilitation (non-limiting examples: fitness room, home, ...), it may be interesting to stimulate or maintain a motivation. One of the solutions may be to project multimedia content on a screen (TV, movies or other visual productions) whose scrolling is controlled by the movements generated by the person during his activity. However, this requires the use of specific equipment or major modifications of conventional equipment such as exercise bikes, treadmills or running mats, etc. The device according to the invention overcomes this disadvantage. It comprises in fact according to a first characteristic an accelerometer type sensor placed on the individual. This sensor can detect and quantify a movement in 1, 2 or 3 axes to obtain an electrical signal as a function of time for each type of movement. Processing of the signals thus recovered gives characteristic indicators such as minimum and maximum intensity, change, inversion and slope failure as non-exhaustive examples. Important information such as the relative intensity and / or periodicity of the motion can be inferred without the need for a complete and complex analysis of the initial signals characterizing the motion. This information is then linked to the scrolling speed of a video from a moving camera filming a real scene. By modulating the speed of scrolling of the video by this information is heard: - This information indicates the stop of the movement (s): stop the scrolling of the video, This information indicates the resumption of the movement (s): resumption of the scrolling of the video video, - This information indicates an acceleration or a decrease of the movement (s): acceleration or deceleration as a result of the scrolling of the video, - The influence on the scrolling of the video can be done in steps (positive or negative increments) or proportionally (x2, x3 or -2, = 1.5, ...) - The basic speed of video scrolling can be fixed (standard, accelerated or slowed speed) which will then be modulated according to the information coming from the signals characterizing the movement quantified by the accelerometer.
30 The link between this important information and the scrolling of the video, can be done either by multimedia playback software such as Windows Media Player, VLC as non-limiting examples, with the functions of acceleration, pause or stop videos; either by a proprietary program providing the same functions; either by a program or algorithm integrating everything (acquisition of characteristic indicators, deduction of important information from the indicators, direct link with the multimedia playback software). The videos resulting from a moving camera, filming a real scene imply: - a choice as to the field of vision of the camera defined by the choice of the lens such as the use of a 50mm lens (seen from the human eye), wide angle for wide or panoramic vision, zoom and ultra zoom for close-up shots or miniature scenes as a non-limitative example, - any means for filming while holding the camera in continuous motion such as a person walking on foot, by bicycle or any vehicle carrying the person, a camera attachment on any system ensuring its movement on land, water and air (bicycle, car, boat, hot-air balloon, hang-glider, equivalent device, remote controlled objects, cable cars or any rigid cable devices) or flexible, a speed of movement of the camera and acquisition of images adapted to a future display of quality.
