Abstract
Description
"Dispositif pour rendre un véhicule communicant". "Device for making a vehicle communicating".
The invention relates to a device for making a vehicle communicating, in particular on an extended type network such as the Internet. There are already known cases that allow different equipment inside a fixed room to communicate on the Internet. The box is generally connected to the Internet by means of an ADSL modem 10 or a cable modem. However an ADSL modem or a cable modem, are not usable in a vehicle, especially in a motor vehicle that moves. US2003 / 0181162 discloses a housing equipped with a satellite modem for providing mobile Internet services in a vehicle. However, if a discrete antenna is sufficient to pick up downlink signals from the satellite, the satellite uplinks require a satellite dish antenna on the roof of the vehicle, which is hardly compatible with a particular vehicle usage. To remedy the problems of the prior art, an object of the invention is a device for making a vehicle, especially a motor vehicle, communicating. Remarkably, the device comprises: - an internal wireless computer network interface, arranged to communicate in LAN with equipment inside the vehicle; an external interface arranged to communicate by mobile land with equipment outside the vehicle that is connected to a wide area network. Particularly, the external interface is a wireless computer network interface. More particularly, the external wireless computer network interface is arranged to communicate with an external infrastructure including access terminals. In particular, the external interface is an interface to a mobile telephony infrastructure.
Advantageously, the device is arranged to select the equipment outside the vehicle with which to communicate so as to connect better to the WAN. Preferably, the device comprises a satellite positioning system arranged to communicate with at least one of the internal interface and the external interface. In particular, the equipment inside the vehicle includes nomadic equipment.
The device is usefully connected to a wired multiplexing network of the vehicle operating members. The invention will be better understood on reading the description which follows and on examining the accompanying figure. This figure is given for illustrative and not limiting of the invention. It shows a schematic representation of the essential elements of a communicating vehicle. Referring to the single figure, a housing 1 is installed in a vehicle 10. The housing 1 is powered by the 12V electrical network of the vehicle. According to various alternative embodiments, the housing is equipped with one or connected to a satellite geolocation module (GPS) 25 for calculating the location of the vehicle in real time. The satellite geolocation system can use the US system called the global positioning system, the European system named Galileo or any other system depending on its availability.
The housing 1 comprises a first interface 12 of wireless computer network, preferably in accordance with the 802.11 (WiFi for wireless fidelity in English), so-called internal, allowing equipment 2 located inside the vehicle 10 to communicate with the housing 1. The interface 12 is preferably low transmitting power in the frequency band 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz so as to radiate as little as possible outside the vehicle. The interface 12 is also preferably provided with an RC4 (WEP for Weak Encryption Protocol) or a WPA2 (WiFi Protected Access in English) type of access control access control. in order to guarantee a private local network operation reserved for the users of the vehicle. The set of equipment 2 comprises all or part of one or more collections of which at least one contains. a mobile telephone 21 equipped with an interface arranged to connect to the interface 12 so as to be able to switch over to voice over IP in order to save its GSM or 3G telephone subscription; a microcomputer 22 equipped with an interface arranged to connect to the interface 12 so as to communicate in a local area network with other equipment in the vehicle or in an extended network with the Internet; A personal assistant (PDA for personal digital assistant in English language) or a game console 23 equipped with an interface arranged to connect to the interface 12; a WEB radio equipped with an interface arranged to connect to the interface 12. The box 1 comprises a second interface 11 of the so-called external wireless network, allowing the box 1 to connect to a first type of cable. 4. The interfaces 11 and 12 are shown as separate antennas exiting the housing 1, only to facilitate the observation of the figure. It will be understood that the two interfaces may equally well be in the form of two channels multiplexed on one and the same antenna, preferably buried in the housing 1. This first type of external infrastructure comprises, for example, access terminals commonly known as Hot Spot WiFi. the use of which is expected to spread in the vicinity of railway stations, airports, service stations, motorway areas, car parks, or other public or commercial places. The interface 11 is then typically without an access key so that it can easily connect to the first available access point. It is also possible to provide the second interface 11 with a secret access key held in the housing 1 by the manufacturer of the housing, so as to share it within a community of users who have in their vehicle a housing similar to the case 1. This variant then makes it possible to create, in a known manner, an ad hoc network whose Latin etymology means who is going towards what it should go to. Such a network allows for example to create a chain of connections in a queue of vehicles that includes a vehicle accessing the Internet, for example at the front of the line at a toll highway with access points. Hitherto objects of boredom, plugs become real objects of desire for the pleasures of browsing the Internet they provide. Advantageously, the box 1 comprises an interface 13, called external, type GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS 3G, or HSPA 3G +, allowing the housing 1 to connect to a second type of outdoor infrastructure 3. This external infrastructure is that of the operators of the mobile telephony. It now covers about 80% of the territory.
The housing 1 is arranged to select the best outdoor infrastructure 3 or 4 depending on the life situation of the vehicle.
On peut par exemple mais non limitativement utiliser les algorithmes 20 divulgués dans les documents WO2006061184, WO/2006/074800 "PROCEDES ET SYSTEMES DE GESTION DE LA MOBILITE DANS DES RESEAUX DE COMMUNICATION", WO/2007/039564 "PROCEDES ET SYSTEMES RELATIFS A UN SERVICE DE COURRIELS DE RESEAUX DE COMMUNICATION", ou EP1830200.If only one of the two outdoor infrastructures 3 or 4 is available, it is automatically selected. If both infrastructures are available, several logical choices are possible: - The infrastructure selected is that which offers the largest flow; - The selected infrastructure is the one that offers the lowest communication costs; The selected infrastructure is the one previously selected in case of connection in progress and appearance of a new infrastructure; The infrastructure is selected by means of more sophisticated algorithms based on the knowledge of the covers of each infrastructure and on the location of the vehicle, possibly along with the knowledge of the path, for example to minimize the number of switches between infrastructures. For example, the algorithms disclosed in WO2006061184, WO / 2006/074800 "METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR MANAGING MOBILITY IN COMMUNICATION NETWORKS", WO / 2007/039564 "METHODS AND SYSTEMS RELATING TO COMMUNICATION NETWORK EMAIL SERVICE ", or EP1830200.
Ainsi interconnectés, les équipements 2, 21, 22, 23, 24, du ou des occupants peuvent accéder à Internet 5.The two infrastructures 3 and 4 are in direct relationship with the Internet symbolized by the globe 5 in the figure. Thus interconnected, the equipment 2, 21, 22, 23, 24, of the occupant or occupants can access the Internet 5.
The housing 1 is arranged to provide various functions among which there is an Internet access for each WiFi device present in the vehicle enclosure and a calculation of the position of the vehicle and returns from this position to a computer server 35 located on the internet. The position is used to provide the user with geolocation web applications in the vicinity of the vehicle (weather, traffic info, gas prices, garages, road map, shops, assistance services). Localization is exploitable in different ways. To be used by applications operating on a nomadic equipment 21, 22 of the passenger, the geolocation is transmitted by the internal interface 12 to the nomadic equipment of the passenger. We can mention the positioning on a map, navigation with calculation and route tracking. To be used by remote applications that need to locate the vehicle, such as vehicle fleet management, stolen vehicle tracking, dissemination of geo-localized information about restaurants, hotels or garages. closer, the location is transmitted by means of the interface 11 or the interface 13 to an external server. In a preferred embodiment, the box is arranged to connect to a vehicle data acquisition module, not shown, so as to aggregate and restore all or part of the data acquired to the user. The additional interest is that the housing can also be connected to the multiplex network of the vehicle or to certain electronic devices live (airbag calculator (airbag in English), odometer, ...). Thus the housing has the ability to retrieve the information related to the operation of the vehicle (mileage, speed, consumption, warning lights, fuel level, airbag trigger, ...). This information, after possible treatments, can be broadcast by the box, either by the internal Wifi to the vehicle to be operated by the nomadic equipment of one of the passengers of the vehicle, or by external 3G / 3G + or Wifi for broadcast to external servers (for park management applications for example).
