The present invention relates to a pressurized gas tank and a method of manufacturing such a tank. The invention relates more particularly to a pressurized gas tank comprising an envelope defining a gas storage volume, the envelope comprising an opening at a first end thereof and a filamentary winding of mechanical reinforcement disposed on at least a portion of its outer surface, the filament winding comprising reinforcing fibers and preferably a resin. Composite tanks composed of a plastic or metallic envelope (referred to as the liner) on which a filamentary winding is made (composite winding) are known. These tanks are designed to store high pressure gas (between 200 and 1000 bar for example) while guaranteeing a lower weight than the all-metal tanks. The plastic or metal casing ensures the sealing of the reservoir relative to the gas and does not participate little or no in the mechanical strength. This mechanical strength is provided by the composite part consisting of fiber and resin. Conventionally, the deposit is made by filament winding in which the fiber is deposited at a chosen angle. The choice of the angle and the winding sequence will depend on the technical constraints imposed by the tooling, the geometry of the reservoir, the sliding of the fibers at the beginning of the winding as well as the targeted performances for the reservoir. The winding sequence in fact impacts directly on the operating pressure of a composite tank. This is set by the bursting pressure of the pressure vessel (or burst pressure) via a multiplicative factor designated by safety factor.
Different modes of rupture can characterize the bursting of such a tank: - it can occur a break of the majority of the fibers of the winding or all the fibers which causes the rupture of the liner in several pieces (bottoms and central part ), there may be a break in some of the layers of fiber with swelling of the liner see its disembowelment, which is a desirable mode of rupture compared to the previous one.
Several geometries and winding sequences of the reinforcing fibers of such reservoirs are known (see for example US6190481). Indeed, according to the winding angles of these layers of reinforcing fibers, different mechanical properties are obtained. The literature reports that the winding angle to achieve the highest bursting pressure under the sole effect of internal pressure for a resilient tubular structure with background effect is 54.7 °. The introduction of damage mechanisms varies this optimum angle as a function of material from 53.2 ° for carbon / epoxy to 54.9 ° for E / epoxy glass with 60% fiber by volume.
According to other publications, the optimization of the rupture pressure as a function of the winding is obtained by the simultaneous use of angles of 50 and 58 °. Another analytical method developed for multilayer thick tanks gives an optimal angle of failure between 52.1 ° and 54.2 °. Finally, tanks are known that use winding combinations of the circumferential type (angle of the order of 90 °) and of the polar type (with an angle of the order of 10 to 30 °). This makes it possible to confine the rupture to the cylindrical part of the tank and to prevent the tank from breaking in at least two pieces of the cylindrical part and the projectile formation (s). The associated breaking pressure (and therefore the operating pressure of the reservoir) is however satisfactory.
An object of the present invention is to provide a reservoir and its manufacturing method for controlling the rupture mode of the reservoir using the winding sequence to reduce or eliminate the risk of rupture of the reservoir into several pieces that are then similar to dangerous projectiles, while maintaining a high level of mass performance for a given service pressure. Another possible object of the present invention is to overcome all or part of the disadvantages of the prior art noted above. To this end, the reservoir according to the invention, moreover, in accordance with the generic definition given in the preamble above, is essentially characterized in that the filament winding comprising at least one polar-type layer having reinforcement arranged, with respect to the axial direction of the casing at an angle in a range of 15 ° to 33 °, at least one circumferential type layer having reinforcing fibers arranged, with respect to the axial direction of the casing; envelope at an angle in a range of 87 ° to 93 °, the filament winding further comprising at least one intermediate type layer having reinforcing fibers arranged with respect to the axial direction at an angle within a range of 51 ° to 59 °. The invention also proposes a method of manufacturing a pressurized gas tank.
In one possible aspect, the method comprises forming, by a method of winding a filament (s) or a method of winding a tape (s), an outer hull or winding resistant to pressure, around a envelope capable of serving as a gas barrier, in which the outer shell is made of resin reinforced by fibers, in particular carbon fibers, in which the outer shell is made with: at least one layer of polar type of reinforcing fibers which are arranged with respect to the axial direction of the casing at an angle in a range of 15 ° to 33; at least one circumferential type layer whose reinforcing fibers are arranged, with respect to the axial direction of the envelope at an angle in the range 87 ° to 93 °, and at least one intermediate type layer whose fibers of reinforcement are arranged, with respect to the axial direction, in a range of 51 ° to 59 °. The invention may also relate to any alternative device or method comprising any combination of the above or below features. Other features and advantages will appear on reading the description below, with reference to the figures in which: - Figure 1 shows a schematic sectional view of an example of the tank according to the invention, - the figure 2 represents a side view of a possible sequence of manufacture (winding) of a tank according to the invention, - Figure 3 shows a schematic and sectional view of a detail of Figure 1, illustrating a non-limiting example. reinforcement filament winding.
The tank illustrated in Figure 1 comprises, conventionally, a casing 1 or liner defining a sealed gas storage volume. The envelope 1 consists for example of one or more of the following materials: steel, aluminum alloy, other metallic material, thermoplastic or thermosetting. The casing 1 is for example of generally cylindrical shape and has an opening 2 at a first of its ends. A second end of the casing 1 may comprise a tip 4 intended to form a support for a mandrel during a winding process mentioned below.
A filament winding 3 of mechanical reinforcement is disposed on the outer surface of the casing 1. This filament winding 3 may comprise at least one of: a resin and reinforcing fibers such as carbon, glass, glass fibers, Aramid or other filamentary synthetic compound. Conventionally, the filament winding 3 can be made by one or more layers 13 which are wound (see FIG. 2) around the casing 1 which is rotated about its longitudinal axis. . According to an advantageous feature of the invention, the reinforcement winding 3 (also called external shell 3) comprises at least one layer 13 of polar type having its reinforcing fibers arranged, with respect to the axial direction D of the envelope 1 at an angle in the range of 15 ° to 33 °; at least one circumferential type layer 23 having its reinforcing fibers arranged, with respect to the axial direction D of the envelope 1, at an angle in a range of 87 ° to 93; and at least one intermediate type layer 33 having its reinforcing fibers arranged, with respect to the axial direction, at an angle in a range of 51 ° to 59 °. The term "arrangement" designates the orientation (angle) of the fibers in relation to the longitudinal direction D of the envelope 1.
The invention thus proposes a new combination of different winding angles which optimizes the performance of the tank in terms of control of the failure mode and therefore the level of safety and operating pressure (for a given amount of fibers). The Applicant has found that this sequence is advantageous in terms of performance and safety compared to known sequences. By way of example, by providing, on an aluminum alloy liner, a pre-impregnated T700S carbon fiber winding sequence composed of: ten layers of polar type having their reinforcing fibers arranged, with respect to the axial direction D of the casing 1, at an angle in a range of 15 ° to 33, and preferably about 25 °, and then of fourteen layers 33 of intermediate type having their reinforcing fibers arranged with respect to the direction axial, at an angle in a range of 51 ° to 59 °, and preferably 55 °, and finally - seven layers 23 of circumferential type having their reinforcing fibers arranged with respect to the axial direction D of the envelope 1 at an angle in a range of 87 ° to 93 °, and preferably equal to 90 °, gives a mass of composite material of the order of 1.050 kg giving the tank a breaking pressure of 2400 bar 200 bar . The rupture occurs essentially in the cylindrical part of the tank. The winding sequence according to the invention makes it possible to predict the mode of rupture of the tank subjected to excessive pressure. A longitudinal reinforcing coefficient and a circumferential reinforcing coefficient may be assigned to each reinforcing layer having fibers oriented at an angle to the axial direction of the envelope. Preferably, the sum (layer by layer) of the circumferential reinforcing coefficients leading to a circumferential reinforcement must be less than the sum (layer by layer) of the longitudinal reinforcing coefficients leading to a longitudinal rupture so that the failure mode is of the type circumferential. This mode of circumferential rupture is in fact more satisfactory especially for the applications of transportable gas cylinders for the following reasons: it is normally the only type of rupture accepted by regulation because it avoids the violent projection of the ends of the bottles in case of rupture. By circumferential rupture mode means a buttonhole-type break, that is to say along a generatrix parallel to the axis of the bottle) when the tank is subjected to excessive pressure. By longitudinal mode of rupture means a rupture (perpendicular to the axis of the bottle) when the tank is subjected to excessive overpressure. Layers oriented at a 90 ° angle will have by definition a fixed coefficient, for example equal to one. For the other layers oriented at an angle of X ° (X degrees) (X being between 0 ° and 90 °) the circumferential component (the circumferential coefficient) is equal to the sinus of the angle X and the longitudinal component (longitudinal coefficient ) is equal to the cosine of the angle X. For this purpose, it is possible to propose an object that is independent of the rest of the present application: a method of manufacturing a reservoir having a preferred mode of rupture, in particular when subjected to a excessive overpressure, the preferred mode of rupture of the reservoir being a circumferential rupture or, respectively, a longitudinal type break, the method comprising a step of winding (3) filamentary mechanical reinforcement on at least a portion of the outer surface an envelope (1) defining a gas storage volume, the envelope (1) having an opening (2) at a first end, the filament winding (3) of a comprising reinforcing fibers and preferably a resin, the filament winding (3) being formed by a plurality of layers (13) having reinforcing fibers arranged with respect to the axial direction (D) of the envelope (1). ) at defined angles X between 0 and 90 °, the method is characterized in that a longitudinal reinforcing coefficient and a circumferential reinforcing coefficient are assigned to each reinforcing layer having fibers arranged, with respect to the direction ( D) of the envelope (1) at an angle X, and in that the sum of the circumferential reinforcing coefficients of all the layers of the winding is greater than or less than the sum of the longitudinal reinforcing coefficients of all the layers of the winding (3). The method may comprise one or more of the characteristics (characteristics that are alternatives or additional to the definition above) below: the layers having in absolute value an angle X = 90 ° with respect to the axial direction (D) of the casing (1) have a fixed fixed single longitudinal coefficient, for example equal to 1 (zero circumferential coefficient), the layers having in absolute value an angle X less than 90 ° (between 0 ° and 90 °) relative to the axial direction (D) of the envelope (1) have a circumferential coefficient proportional or equal to the sine of the angle X and a longitudinal coefficient proportional or equal to the cosine of the angle X, - another method of calculating the coefficients can be defined by assigning a coefficient 1 in the longitudinal direction to x = 90 ° (circumferential coefficient zero), a coefficient 1 in the circumferential direction to x = 0 (zero longitudinal coefficient) and the coefficient 0.5 (longitudinal or c irconferential) at the angle 55.7 °, determined theoretically as the optimum angle of reinforcement. A polynomial regression between the longitudinal or circumferential coefficients described above assigned to the above angles can be used to determine the longitudinal and circumferential coefficients of the layers having in absolute value an angle X less than 90 ° (between 0 ° and 90 °) by relative to the axial direction (D) of the envelope (1), the mechanical contribution of the liner can be taken into account by increasing the circumferential coefficients. For example, the circumferential coefficients for aluminum liner tanks may be increased by 10%. The filament winding (3) comprises several layers having reinforcing fibers arranged with respect to the axial direction (D) of the envelope ( 1) at distinct angles X, the layers (13, 23, 33) having fibers arranged at an identical first angle are successively formed and stacked without alternation with one or more layers having fibers arranged with one or more second angles at the first angle, a portion of the plurality of layers having fibers arranged at the same angle are made and stacked alternately with one or more layers having fibers arranged at another angle. The method may also comprise one or more of the features of the following claims and / or with one or more of the characteristics of the process described above with reference to FIGS. 1 to 3. This method makes it possible to manufacture tanks with a predictable mode of rupture.
