Description
L'invention est une forme aérodynamique de carrosserie rigide, fixe et nonThe invention is an aerodynamic form of rigid body, fixed and not
Vehicle aerodynamics plays a major role in energy consumption and the resulting air pollution. Air penetration accounts for 40% to 60% of the fuel consumption of a heavy vehicle (Nasa / TP-1999-206574, NEA Transport Research and Training / BEET) at commercial speed. io Scania CV AB confirms this fact by estimating, for a streamlined articulated and optimized assembly (Tony Sandberg-Heavy truck modeling for fuel consumption simulations and measurements-2001), a Cx of 0.56 which induces aerodynamic resistance at 90km / h. of the order of 60 kW (82Ch is about 151 / 100km to 190 g / kW.h). On road units of 15 large volumes, with significant overtaking of bodywork, the Cx can reach 0.70 and the aerodynamic resistance at the same speed can rise to 80 kW (110Ch or 201/100 km). And the front of the road unit alone can be responsible for 50%, if carinated, 82%, otherwise (SAE 801403) of this loss due to air.
The front, and therefore the driver's cab and the overhead, remains above all a crucial point in improving the air penetration of road units. The designer Colani, in the 70s-80s, was interested in the forms of the cockpit of a motor. He managed to melt the Cx of an articulated assembly up to 0.38 at the price of particularly tortured forms and a loss of place of the cabin. Such a Cx provides a saving of about 5 1/100 km at 90 km / h, or 6000 liters of fuel annually (about 30 tonnes or 9000 m3 of CO2) on a road unit (source National Road Committee). The aerodynamic knowledge shows that soft shapes are more conducive to a good Cx than angular forms (a modern airliner has a Cx of the order of 0.015, a modern automobile, of the order of 0 , 24). It is necessary to find an energy saving solution on the front side of the transport road unit, and thus for the driver's cab and overhead, via the gas flow.
Currently parallelepipedic for a reason of ease of installation of the driver, the driving cabs of some machines have however benefited from substantial improvements. Thus they sometimes have a form of integrated upper deflection. The cabin being mostly lower than the following body, the use of deflectors on its upper face is common. These deflectors io positioned to improve the flow of air over the driver's cab exist in different forms but are generally articulated around a hinge or a horizontal axis perpendicular to the direction of movement of the road unit (FR 2 769,572, EP 1 031 497). If these systems have recognized efficiencies, they suffer from three serious defects: that of channeling the air mainly above the vehicle train, that of degrading their own efficiency in order to be adaptable in height and especially to offer an efficiency relative aerodynamics (SAE 2000-01-3500). In addition, the proposed system should be effective in the case of crosswinds, the same or some current deflectors are effectively collapsing (SAE 2003-01-3376).
The aerodynamic resistance being proportional to the frontal surface multiplied by the Cx, it seems interesting to use a frontal shape of the non-adjustable but beneficially profiled towing vehicle (a delta of Cx of 0.1 corresponding to 2 to 31 / 100km), rather than to degrade the optimum shape to reduce the frontal area with for example a follower body at variable height. Moreover, the laws of fluid mechanics cause the air deflected above the vehicle to see its accelerated speed, whereas the air passing under the vehicle is slowed down by the obstacles it encounters and by the proximity of the bitumen. . In the balance sheet it appears that the profile of the air depression that follows the rear wall of the last vehicle, is excessively centered on the upper third of the rear plane and an amplitude increased by the non-equivalence of these two streams (35 EERE - Heavy Vehicle Systems Optimization-2004 Annual report - p61). The air being accelerated more than reason, any obstacle causes friction of the air, friction requiring a power to counteract them proportional to the cube of the speed. The relative speed of the air on the upper plane of the road unit being different from that of the air on the lateral planes, there will be formation on the longitudinal edges of the upper plane of the bodywork, vortex consumers. Energy (EERE - Heavy Vehicle Optimization Systems-2004 Annual report-p64). It is therefore appropriate that the front panel evenly distributes the air pushed by the bodywork between the body side blanks and the upper blank. These flows being more balanced, it will result in a reduced depression of the rear face whose impact is not negligible (SAE 2005 - 01- 3513).
If (fig. 1 to 4) the lower part (1) of the cabin is the prerogative of the motor constructors which currently produce it only with rectangular pseudo-parallelepiped shapes, the space above the cabin bottom part (1) can be used to optimize overall aerodynamics at an acceptable cost. On the basis of these observations, it seems interesting to have a high form (3) of the front face of the vehicle, overshadowing the low cabin shape (1), aerodynamically optimized and concealing the frontal overtaking of the body (2) with respect to the lower part of the cabin (1), this lower part being characterized in that it has the cockpit. In the case of a road unit or an insulated vehicle, these may be equipped with a lowered cab (floor height of approximately 2.70 m) or a low floor height cab (low entry height). 2,3m) serving as the lower cabin (1). There can therefore be between the upper plane of the lower part of the cabin (1) and that of the bodywork (2) between 1m and 1.70m (in the case of European harmonization 96/53 / EC at 4m from maximum height) for a half-width of cash from 1.00 to 1.30 m. The most aerodynamic form being that of a drop of water, this form is assimilable, in the sense of advancement, to a hemisphere or two quarters of sphere contiguous, followed by a cone. It therefore seems interesting to translate this shape of a quarter of a high sphere on the front face of a goods transport vehicle for the leading face 35 of the mass of air passing over the lower cabin shape (1 ) and preceding the follower body (2). Moreover, the half-width of the body (2) being of approximately equivalent size, at the remaining height, a pseudo quarter sphere of constant radius can register above the lower part of the car ( 1) with a suitable radius and a carefully chosen center. The invention is an aerodynamic form of rigid body, fixed and non-adjustable, covering the lower part of the cab of a towing vehicle for the transport of goods.
Figures 1 and 3 show goods transport motor vehicles provided with a lower cabin (1), the upper cabin (3), and a body (2) follower, seen from the side, taken in the normal direction of advance (A) of the vehicle in the transport phase. Figures 2 and 4 respectively show the same vehicles of Figures 1 and 3, seen from above. Figures 3 and 4 show the same shape (3) located above the volume of the lower cabin (1) equipped with two specific areas (7,8). Figures 1 and 2 show the aerodynamic upper form of cabin (3) in a configuration having neither of these two areas. The form presented as cabin top (3), covers the lower part of cabin (1), the latter being devolving to the pipe, and is positioned frontally in front of the body (2) protruding vertically from this lower part (1). It (3) can take two modes of installation on a road transport vehicle of goods: - or it (3) is integrated, by construction, or by adding to the lower part of cabin (1) a high element . In these cases, the form (3) may or may not release space for the interior of the cockpit to provide a layout for the user. 30 - or it (3) is the fact of an aerodynamic deflector mechanically maintained by the lower cabin (1). In this case the form (3) can be held in position by direct anchoring or via any support on the lower cabin (1).
In both cases the upper form (3) is secured to the lower part of the car (1) and thus does not interfere with its own damping or its tilting for engine access operations. In the case presented, it (3) is integrated in the lower part of cabin (1), without cutting thereof, for example by welding the upper part (3) aerodynamic on a low cabin (1) pseudo flag dish.
Nevertheless, the form described (3) applies to any form of low part of cabin (1) that it is parallelepiped or not, that the lower part (1) has a flag or not, and that this flag is flat or no. The invention applies to any vehicle of the heavy truck type, both to a tractor called tractor to be coupled via a harness to one or more vehicle bodies, such as an articulated assembly or a double train, that a motor equipped with a body, commonly referred to as carrier. It is this last case which is here developed.
The high aerodynamic shape (3) is composed of one, as in the case presented, or several elements. All these elements are made of rigid materials that can be for example metallic plastic or composite structure. Intended to be the least resistant to air possible, the upper form (3) may be applied to the surface of any product, such as paints or a gel-coats on its outer face 20 to promote the gas flow. The high form (3) is by fixed construction, since connected to the lower cabin (1), not adjustable since rigid and not provided with articulation.
As previously described, a pseudo-quarter sphere can find its place above a lower cabin portion on a road freight vehicle. Thus (Fig.1 to 4) the aerodynamic high form (3) covers the lower cabin (1) and is characterized in that it has a frontal area (4), ie a body located at the top forward in the direction of movement of the vehicle (A), describing a piece of sphere of radius R and center C. The radius R can take any value between 0.90m and 1.60m, knowing that for common bodies of 2.5m wide, a radius R between 1.10m and 1.40m is preferable. The center C of the frontal zone (4) is, in the direction of the displacement (A), after the frontal zone (4) and on the median (9), the latter being the vertical plane parallel to the advancement (A). ) cutting the lower cabin (1) in the middle.
3), la limite basse de la zone frontale (4) est ce même plan 20 horizontal passant par C. The position of the center C is limited horizontally, body side (2) follower by the lower rear limit (11) that is to say the vertical rear plane of the driver's cab (1) perpendicular to the advance (A). If the point C may be at any point in the plane of the median (9) in front of the lower rear limit (11), a position which is too far advanced will cause the high shape (3) of the lower cabin front plane to be exceeded ( 10). This excess will be taken into account in the total length of the vehicle. It is therefore appropriate that the upper form (3) should in no case exceed the front (10) of the lower cabin (1) to avoid a loss of body length (2) under the effect of the regulations. For this, the point C must therefore be with a withdrawal of a distance greater than or equal to R of the front (10) of the lower cabin (1). Finally, in order for the deflector (3) to have a frontal zone (4), the point C must not be situated vertically at a distance greater than the radius R 15 below the maximum height of the lower part of the car (1). The frontal area (4), as long as it is at a height greater than the horizontal plane passing through C, is limited vertically by the meeting (fig.1) with the lower cabin (1). If this condition is not fulfilled (FIG 3), the low limit of the frontal zone (4) is the same horizontal plane passing through C.
If (FIGS. 1 to 4) the frontal zone (4) can extend to the vertical plane perpendicular to the advance passing through the center C, then it will describe on this plane an arc of a circle which will be only slightly aerodynamic propitious in the case of bodies (2) follower who have a majority of a rectangular parallelepiped shape. In order to adapt the shape according to the frontal area (4) to the shape of the body (2) protruding vertically above the driver's cab (1), it may be advantageous to reduce the frontal area (4) and to give, in the vertical plane perpendicular to the advance passing through C, a contour of similar shape, to scale factors near, to the contour of the frontal overtaking of the following bodywork (2). Thus, it is defined (FIGS. 1 to 4) the creepage distance (6), bodywork contour on the vertical plane perpendicular to the advance passing through C, the latter (6) being, on a near scale, similar at the front contour of the body (2) protruding from the lower cabin (1). The creepage distance (6) therefore finds its lower limit in contact with the lower part of the cabin (1). The scale can be between 1/2 and 1.1 / 1 with respect to the shape of the body (2) projecting beyond the lower part of the cabin (1). In the case where the center C (FIGS. 1 and 2), and thus the creepage distance (6) is in the low rear limit plane (11), it will be more efficient for the scale to be close to 1 so that the upper form (3) matches the shape of the frontal overtaking of the body (2) of the lower part of the cabin (1). When (FIGS. 3 and 4) the creepage distance (6) is distant from the lower rear limit (11), it can take advantage aerodynamically of a scale above mentioned between 0.5 and 1.1. The aforementioned scale corresponding to the size of the creepage distance (6) on the size of the above-mentioned front-end bodywork (2).
Due to the completion (FIGS. 1 to 4) of the frontal zone (4) on the creepage plane (6), the arcuate shape of the frontal zone (4) on this plane will be therefore completely different from the current form of the vanishing line (6). It is necessary to create a solution to preserve the overall aerodynamics of the high aerodynamic shape (3). Thus it is possible to reduce the size of the frontal zone (4) on the bodywork side (2) to a vertical plane perpendicular to the displacement and to create between the latter (4) and the creepage line (6) a so-called bodywork portion. adaptation zone (5). The adaptation zone (5) is thus limited, in the direction of advance (A), forwards by the frontal zone (4) and towards the rear by the creepage (6), forming the junction of bodywork freely between those (4,6). Vertically, it is limited downwards by the same criteria as the frontal zone (4), namely (FIG 1) by the contact with the lower part of the cabin (1) as long as it is carried out above the plane horizontal passing through C, and in the case where this condition is not fulfilled (fig.3), by this same plane. The adaptation zone (5) can take any dimension along the axis of displacement (A) provided that it is less than or equal to 0.5 times the radius (R) of the frontal zone (4). In order to preserve a spherical attack of the air mass by the high aerodynamic shape (3), while preserving a junction zone (5) aerodynamically little degrading, the dimension according to A is preferably between 0.2 and 0, 40 times the radius (R). If the junction zone can have any shape provided that it respects its junction properties on the frontal zone (4) and the creepage line (6), it will of course be preferable for the shape to progressively change from the shape of the zone which precedes to the shape of the vanishing line (6) in order to be aerodynamically optimum.
If center C is not located (Figures 3 and 4) in the cab rear limit plane (11), the clearance between the creepage (6) and the following body (2) may be greater than space between the lower cabin (1) and the same body (2). This last space, if it is necessary lo to avoid that the cabin (1,3) enters a destructive contact with the follower body (2), must not be too important either, otherwise the overall aerodynamics will be degraded, especially since the side wind will be important. As a result, it may be desirable to camber the space between the creepage (6) and the cab (10) rear limit plane by a rear area (7). Vertically downward (Figure 3), it (7) is limited to contact with the lower cabin (1), or if it exceeds it laterally, in the horizontal plane passing through the upper end of the lower cabin (1). This rear zone (7) is therefore a bodywork (Figures 3 and 4). In order to be aerodynamically optimum, the contour of the rear area (7) in the cabin aft limit plane (11) will benefit from being similar in shape and size, to the outline of the bodywork (2) protruding from the front cabin bass (1). The creepage distance (6) therefore having a contour shape similar to the rear area (7) in the cab rear limit plane (11), if the body (2) is pseudo parallelepipedic, the rear area (7) ) will be too. (Fig.4) The rear area (7) will have lateral flanks, which, because of the scale of the creepage (6), will have with the extension of the body side flanks (2) an angle a. The same phenomenon (FIG. 3) will occur with the upper plane of the rear zone (7) with respect to the extension of the upper body plane (2), inducing an angle R. (fig.3 and 4) a and R are between -15 degrees and 30 degrees, a negative angle reflecting a creepage distance (6) with a scale greater than 1. In order to obtain optimum aerodynamics these angles should be understood between 0 and 18 degrees. If the frontal zone (4), and of the adaptation zone (5) if it exists, is limited at any point by the horizontal plane passing through C, this indicates that there is a space upstream of the creepage distance (6), which is not of a bodywork between the frontal zone (4) and the lower cabin part (1). Therefore, to make the body join between the two previously cited areas (4,5) and the lower cabin (1), it is possible to define between these areas (1,4,5) for the high aerodynamic shape (3) a vertical junction zone (8). In order to preserve the air resistance of the high form (3), this vertical junction zone (8) has a half-tube shape of radius R preceding its center C, situated in front, in the direction of movement ( A) from the vertical plane perpendicular to the advance (A) passing through C. The center of the junction zone of radius R is the vertical line intersecting the plane of the median (9) with the vertical plane at the point of advance (A The vertical limit of this new zone (8) is therefore on one side the horizontal plane passing through C and on the other side the lower part of the cabin (1). Thus at the junction of the vertical adaptation zone (8) and the frontal zone (4), these two zones have a shape in the horizontal plane of center C an ideal junction since they have the same radius R, and the same center C. If the high form of bodywork (3) is integrated in the lower part of the cabin (1), it is possible that the high form (3) offers in its interior space a living space for the user of the vehicle. This solution is conceivable for any high form of bodywork (3) making the junction with the rear limit plane (11). In these cases, the high body shape (3) will have in the rear limit plane (11) a body obscuring the entire inside of the contour of the rear zone (7) at the intersection with this plane (11). )
