The invention relates to a folding shelf device for a motor vehicle, and a seat comprising such a device.
Vehicle seats with folding tables are known. If a screen is also provided on the seat back, the cabin of the vehicle can turn into a mobile office. However, to avoid infractions, or simply for aesthetic reasons, it may be desirable to hide such screens. Cache devices are then proposed.
In addition, folding shelves, in the deployed position, can be particularly dangerous for the occupants of the vehicle in case of accident. It is for this reason that in aircraft, this type of tablet must be folded at the time of takeoff and landing. It is therefore desirable to be able to offer a tablet that folds automatically in case of strong acceleration.
Finally, to increase the comfort of the passengers, the rear part of the seat can be equipped with a kneeling cellar, that is to say one obviously offering additional space ans the cockpit, and allowing. To preserve this functionality, it is desirable that the shelf, in the folded position, is not at the level of the kneeling cellar, but that it is in the high position.
The object of this invention is to provide a foldable shelf device associated with a screen and likely to hide it in the folded position, quite safe, and compact in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
The invention is characterized in that the tablet is capable of taking 3 different positions: 2 folded positions, and an extended position. In both folded positions, the shelf is substantially parallel to the back of the seat back. In the folded up position, the tablet is retracted, and may possibly hide a screen. The folded down position is the position taken automatically by the tablet in case of shock. This position can also be forced by the user, if he wishes, for example, to watch a film on the screen. Indeed in this position the tablet is retracted but the screen remains visible. In the deployed position, the tablet is substantially perpendicular to the plane of the seat back. This is the working position, the screen is visible.
The shelf is held selectively in each position by a holding device pivotally mounted on the backrest of the seat.
The invention will be better understood thanks to the following figures: FIG. 1: seat with a shelf in the high folded position - FIG. 2: sectional view of the seat + shelf in the folded up position FIG. 3: seat with a shelf in an intermediate deployment position FIG. sectional view of the seat + shelf in intermediate position Figure 5: seat with shelf in extended position Figure 6: sectional view of the seat + shelf in the extended position Figure 7: seat with shelf in intermediate shock position Figure 8: sectional view seat + shelf in intermediate shock position figure 9: seat with tablet in shock position figure 10: sectional view of the seat + shelf in shock position figure 11: bielette figure 12: clevis figure 13: seat with tablet, alternative configuration.
The vehicle seat comprises, in known manner, a seat and a backrest (6), which cooperates with a folding shelf (1). The backrest of the seat comprises at least one guide (8) substantially vertical in which at least one shoulder (9) provided on the edge of a folding shelf (1) is slidable. In the preferred configuration, shown in Figure 1 to Figure 10, the shoulder is provided on the side edge of the tablet. In the high folded position of the preferred configuration, the corner (10) of the shelf defined by the lateral edge on the one hand and the edge (18) contiguous to the seat back is at the upper end (19) of the guide (8). In the extended shelf position of the preferred configuration, the wedge (10) is at the lower end (20) of the guide.
In an alternative configuration shown in Figure 13, the shoulder (9) is provided on the edge of the shelf closest to the seat back. The associated guide (8) is then hidden by the tablet when it is in the folded position.
The seat back can include a recess (23) in which is likely to be housed the holding device consists of a yoke (2) and a hinge (3) when the shelf is in the folded up position. The seat back may include a screen (5). In the folded up position, the tablet then masks this screen.
The tablet is a plate comprising two faces, a so-called upper face (22) and a so-called lower face (21), these adjectives referring to the tablet in the deployed position. The tablet includes an edge (18) contiguous to the seat back, two side edges and an opposite edge to the seat back. At least one of the edges of the shelf comprises a shoulder (9) which cooperates with the guide (8) provided on the seat. In the preferred configuration the shoulder (9) is provided on one of the lateral edges of the tablet. In an alternative solution the shoulder is provided on the edge (18) of the shelf adjacent to the seat back. The shelf comprises on its lower face (21) at least one slide (4) in which is slidable the base (10) of the hinge (3).
The tablet is preferably made of thermoplastic material. The slide (4) and the shelf (1) are preferably obtained by the same molding operation. For aesthetic reasons, the tablet may be coated on its so-called upper face (22) with a skin of appearance, for example of textile material. Indeed the folding kinematics of the tablet is such that whatever the position of the tablet, only one face is visible by the user: when the tablet is in the folded up position, the so-called upper face (22) is visible by the 'user. The so-called lower face (21) is not visible, it is against the seat back. When the tablet is in the folded down position the upper face (22) is also the only visible by the user, the face Said tablet is held selectively in each of the folded positions and deployed by means of a hinge (3), one end of which is pivotally mounted on the rear face of the backrest.
The hinge (3) consists of a U-shaped bent metal rod, with a base (10) which slides in at least one slide provided on the underside of the tablet, and two lateral branches (11) and ( 12). The free ends of the two lateral branches are bent towards one another, and define the axis of articulation of the link. The hinge pin (17) is carried by the yoke (2).
The lateral branches of the hinge are elastically deformable: when the hinge is not carried by the yoke, its two lateral branches are convergent due to their elasticity. When the hinge is mounted on the yoke, the two branches are separated by the body of the yoke. During the rotational movement of the bielette relative to the seat back, the two side branches are more or less spaced apart.
The yoke (2) carries the hinge pin (17) of the hinge (3). The yoke has a substantially convex surface, and is preferably symmetrical with respect to a median plane. The yoke has at least 3 housings (15) (16) and (18) which cooperate with at least one of the lateral branches of the hinge. When the bell is in position in one of these dwellings, the lateral branches are only slightly separated. To move from one dwelling to another, the side branches of the crane must be discarded. The housing thus define locking notches.
The yoke (2) is fixed by any means known to those skilled in the seat back.
The movement of the tablet from the high folded position to the deployed position will be explained, for the preferred configuration of the tablet, with reference to FIGS. 1 to 12:
In the high folded position, the corner (10) of the shelf defined by the side edge on the one hand and the edge adjacent to the seat back is at the upper end (19) of the guide (8). The end (10) of the hinge (3) abuts the end of the slide (23) closest to the seat back. The lateral branches of the yoke are substantially parallel to the seat back, their free ends (13), (14) are supported in the upper housing (15) of the yoke. To unfold the tablet, the user exerts a force on the edge of the shelf opposite to the edge adjacent to the seat back. The corners (10) and (10 ') have a downward translation movement in the guides (8) provided on the back of the seat, until the corner (10) of the table defined by the side edge on the one hand and the edge adjacent to the seat back is at the lower end (20) of the guide ( 8). From point, the continuation of the effort by the user causes a separation of the lateral branches (11) and (12) of the bielette. The lateral branches disengage from the upper housing (15). The hinge turns, the rotational movement is guided by the body of screed. When the lateral branches reach the median housing (16), the elasticity of the lateral branches causes their bringing together, and the locking of the hinge in this housing.
The shelf is then in the deployed position: the corners (10) and (10 ') of the shelf are at the lower end (20) of the guide (8), the end (10) of the bielette is abutting the end of the slide (23) closest to the seat back, and the free ends (13) and (14) of the link are supported in the middle notch (16) of the yoke. It's a stable position. A low effort (less than 5 kg) applied to the shelf is not sufficient to cause sufficient deformation of the side branches of the topline to cause their disengagement of this notch.
On the other hand, in the event of a violent shock, resulting in effort on the shelf of the order of twenty kg, the side branches of the bielette will deviate, and the hinge will disengage the median housing (16). The barrel is then rotated downwardly, guided by the body of clevis, until reaching the locking notch constituted by the lower housing (18). This movement is accompanied by the translational movement of the base (10) of the hinge in the slide (4), until the base of the hinge is in abutment against the end (24) of the guide rail. closer to the edge opposite the seat back.
The elasticity of the bielette, the geometry of the screed, the length of the slides are defned by the designer according to efforts he wishes to see developed by the user.
In the preferred configuration, described in this text, the yoke is symmetrical with respect to the median plane of the yoke, each of the lateral branches of the hinge cooperating with one of the edges of the yoke. The clevis then comprises six symmetrical housings two by two. Alternative configurations are of course within the reach of the skilled person, in which for example the bielette cooperates with the yoke only by one of its side branches.
In another embodiment the tablet is associated with two clevises cooperating with two rods, themselves associated with two separate slides.
