Abstract
The gear selection and changing mechanism for a vehicle gearbox a number of forks on a shaft (2) that move relative to the gearbox housing (3) and provide for the engagment of a selected gear by means of a synchronising sleeve linked to the appropriate fork. The mechanism incorporates selectors (5) that are associated with the forks and can be selectively controlled to move the selected fork locking pin (9) radially relative to a recess (14) in the shaft so that the fork can move to change to the selected gear.
