Abstract

The air conditioner and distributor comprises a treatment unit such as a particle filter. The unit is regenerated at least partially from time to time, using a heater upstream of the treatment unit to raise the temperature of the air passing through it to or above a predetermined level for regeneration. The regeneration procedure can also be controlled by an air pressure or composition sensor. The air conditioner and distributor comprises a treatment unit such as a particle filter with a structural element having a catalytic coating capable of storing at least one pollutant substance, such as nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons or carbon monoxide. The unit is regenerated at least partially from time to time, using a heater upstream of the treatment unit to raise the temperature of the air passing through it to or above a predetermined level for regeneration. The system can include a second heater downstream of the treatment unit to warm the air into the passenger compartment, and one or both heaters can have a heat exchanger fed with a hot fluid such as engine coolant, and can form part of the treatment unit. The regeneration procedure can also be controlled by an air pressure or composition sensor.
