Abstract

A procedure for making a swimming pool from reinforced and vibrated concrete cast in one stage uses self-supporting shuttering panels (1) which are left in the concrete after casting. The shuttering panels are mounted on the concrete base of the pool by jacks (3), they are reinforced with rods and expanded metal, and fixed together by bolts (6). The thrust created by the concrete after casting is taken up by spikes (4) connected to the reinforcing elements (2). Once the cast concrete has set the inside of the pool can be tiled or otherwise surfaced without the need for other treatments.
