Abstract

The dressing, esp. for limb extremities, consists of an outer layer (1), an inner layer (3) and an intermediate absorbent layer (2) which has the same dimensions as the inner layer while decreasing in thickness from its distal end towards its proximal end. The intermediate layer is joined to both inner and outer layers of the dressing. The outer permeable or impermeable layer of the dressing and the inner permeable one are made from textile materials, either identical or different, elastic or rendered elastic by their weave, and of natural or synthetic fibres. The dressing can be sterilised by heat, gamma rays or other means compatible with the fibres.
