Abstract

Mixture based on cement, fondu, polymers, chemical adjuvants and fillers, with a view to the production of a hydraulic binder, characterised in that the mixture additionally includes a reactive filler consisting of lamellar material acting especially as water-retainer and antishrinkage agent and agent for increasing ion exchanges, which filler is obtained by calcining silica at a temperature of the order of 1200 to 1600 DEG Celsius.

Description

The invention relates to a mixture based on cement, melt, polymers, chemical additives and fillers, with a view to the production of a hydraulic binder, more particularly, but not exclusively intended for the production of thin screeds.

In the building, it is known to cover a surface with appearance defects such as a rough concrete slab or partially damaged soil, by means of a screed using a hydraulic binder.

However, these screeds are either very thin of the order of 3 mm in the manner of a leveling compound and cannot constitute a wear surface, or of much greater thickness.

The main purpose of its screeds is to reconstitute a flat surface which can then be optionally filled with a finishing coating according to the tastes and needs of the user.

However, for reasons of weight or risk of significant cracking, to date, either a simple patching is carried out if the defects are less than a given value of the order of 5 mm, but beyond this value we must completely replace the concrete slab because, covering the existing one with a new wear slab, would entail a risk of overloading the existing structure.

For the production of such a screed, the composition is placed on site in the presence of water and which, after drying, known as setting, will harden and have a flat free surface.

For practical reasons, it is desired that these screeds harden quickly, in particular to allow rapid use of the ground, for example, firstly for pedestrian traffic and a little later for the passage of mechanical machinery.

To obtain both the flat surface and the rapid drying, use is made on the one hand of specific compositions of fast setting materials and on the other hand which are said to be self-leveling, that is to say that their viscosity is sufficiently low so that at the time of their application on the support, they contribute to their spreading by simple gravity.

The viscosity of these compositions is therefore an important character to take into consideration, but this can influence the setting speed of the screed.

The so-called self-leveling properties of the composition are also considered to date as directly dependent on the shape and size of the fillers included in the material.

This is how we generally use materials with defined particle sizes and especially without excessively large edges.

This is how products having a lamellar appearance are to date written in these compositions.

With the compositions known to date, one of the drawbacks of the speed of setting is that it promotes cracking of the screed.

The too rapid evaporation of the water creates, in fact, also a rapid withdrawal causing these cracks which constitute primers of degradation of the screed.

In the field of concrete constructions, that is to say aggregate of gravel, sand and binder, in the presence of water it is known to increase the chemical resistance of prefabricated concrete parts generally steamed to use in the concrete a siliceous binder consisting of a crystalline modification of silica, namely tridymite or cristobalite.

This concern for chemical resistance is not essential in the field of resin-based hydraulic binders.

It is specific to the field of concrete constructions, which concretes are not suitable for thin screeds.

Due to the different nature of the two binders, a product, adjuvant or filler, known for concrete, is therefore not capable of producing a comparable role in a resin-based binder.

In the manufacture of resin-based binder, in addition to the resin, a cement, a melt, sand, calcium sulphates, adjuvants and pigments are used.

One of the results targeted by the invention is a composition of the aforementioned type which, intended for producing thin screeds, offers an accelerated setting speed and which nevertheless allows the elimination of the cracking phenomenon.

To this end, it relates to such a binder composition, in particular based on polymers, chemical adjuvants and fillers, in particular characterized in that it also comprises a reactive filler consisting of lamellar material which acts in particular as a water retentive , anti-shrinkage agent and for increasing ion exchange, which charge is obtained by calcining the silica at a temperature of the order of 1200 to 16000 Celsius.

The invention will be better understood with the aid of the description below given by way of nonlimiting example with regard to the attached drawing which schematically represents
- Figure 1: sectional view of a support carrying a thin yoke,
- Figure 2: device for producing a mixture according to the invention.

Referring to the drawing, it can be seen that in order to produce a flat surface 1 on a non-planar support 2, such as a damaged concrete slab, use is made of a thin screed 3 which is poured onto the support.

This thin screed generally has a thickness of the order of 5 to 15 mm
It is produced from a composition 11 of materials using a resinous binder 4, a cement 5, a melt 6, fillers 7,8,9,10, such as sand 7 and chemical adjuvants 8, such as calcium sulfate and possibly pigments 9.

For its application, the composition of materials must be qualified as pumpable and self-leveling unlike a mortar whose viscosity is too high to deserve these qualifiers
The resinous binder 4 is preferably a material from the family of polymers and for example vinyl, acrylic, styrene acrylic, styrene butadiene, latex, epoxidic or polyurethane polymers.

Le fondu 6 est un ciment alumineux.  The melt 6 is an aluminous cement.

According to the essential characteristic of the invention, the mixture 11 also comprises a reactive charge 10 consisting of lammellar material which acts in particular as a water retentant and anti-shrinkage agent, which charge is obtained by calcination of the silica at a temperature of around 1200 to 1600O Celsius
The reactive charge obtained which in particular has a lamellar appearance makes it possible to increase the ion exchange surface which contributes both to the phenomenon of water retention and to acceleration of the setting.

The silica is preferably provided in the form of pebbles of sea flint.

The product obtained is the result of a transformation of cryptocrystalline and amorphous silica.

The reactive charge contains between 30% and 60% by weight of cristobalite.

Advantageously, the percentage of the reactive charge is between 10 and 40% by weight of the final dry composition.

A composition is thus obtained which makes it possible to accelerate the setting speed of the screed by 30% and this is how the entry into service of the pedestrian traffic can take place approximately 4 hours after the making of the screed and use by vehicles 24 hours after installation.

The reactive charge acts as a catalyst to accelerate the setting of the composition and retains water which is then slowly redistributed to the mixture to avoid cracking of the screeds.

Due to this retention and this redistribution of water, the withdrawal takes place over a longer time.

Advantageously, an example of composition for making a screed comprises as a percentage of the total weight of dry matter
- 5 to 10% cement,
- 15 to 20% of fade,
- 20 to 25% sand,
- 3 to 5% of calcium sulphate,
- 1 to 3% resinous binder
- 2% pigment
- 2% adjuvant and
- 10 to 40% of reactive charge.

Advantageously, the particle size of the reactive charge will be between 0.5 and 1.5 mm, but a larger particle size is possible for example up to 3 mm.

This particle size will preferably be above 0.05 mm.

Dry matter is considered to be matter without crystal water.

It is thus possible to produce thin screeds which are not too heavy for existing structures and which constitute a wear surface.

Une composition intéressante comprend
- 13,0 % de dispersion aqueuse de résine époxyde liquide
- 10,0 % d'adduct polyaminoamide à l'eau

- 18,0 % de sable
- 3,5 % de sulfate de calcium
- 1,5 % de pigment
- 1,5 % d'adjuvants
