Abstract

The present method relates to a system of cleaning walls, statues, woodwork, stones, stately buildings, archaeological remains and all outdoor covering materials, by rubbing. The method is characterised by the joint use of a mixture of a granular powder with compressed air. This mixture is propelled by very-low-pressure water. The assembly forms a complete system consisting of an air compressor (1), an air cooler (3), a pressure reservoir (2), a high-pressure water propulsion unit (13) and a gun (11) for propelling the mixture onto the surface to be treated and for rinsing this surface down. The mixture of air and granular material is propelled by the pressure of the water transmitted by the high-pressure propulsion unit (13) and mixed inside the gun (11) with the mixture of air and granular material. This gun comprises a cleaning nozzle (25) which works on the support to be cleaned with a rubbing action. This gun throws onto the support a mixture of air and very fine neutral granular material propelled by the water at a pressure of 1.5 to 0.5 bar. This system consumes only 30 litres of water per hour and completely safeguards the structure and the properties of the cleaned support. It is also harmless to the environment.

PRESSURE
DESCRIPTION
The present process relates to a scrubbing system for walls, statues, woodwork, stones and all exterior cladding materials.
The process is characterized by the joint use of a mixture of aggregate powder with compressed air, this mixture is propelled by water under very low pressure.

The cleaning work carried out by the present process is traditionally carried out on assemblies consuming several hundred liters of water and working at pressures between 40 and 100 bars. In addition, these works produce very fine dust which is deposited on all surrounding objects and requires the evacuation of the water necessary for cleaning.

The whole constitutes a complete system making it possible to remedy these drawbacks.

According to a first characteristic, it comprises, a cleaning nozzle working on the support to be cleaned by the effect of exfoliation.

According to a second characteristic, it projects onto the support a mixture of air and very fine neutral aggregates propelled by water under a pressure of 1.5 to 0.5 bars.

According to a third characteristic, it completely safeguards the structure, the characteristics and the properties of the treated support.

According to a fourth characteristic, it does not use any chemical product or additive.

According to a fifth characteristic, it uses only a minimum quantity of water since it consumes only 30 liters of water per hour.

This process uses an assembly consisting of an air compressor, an air cooler, a pressure tank, a high pressure water propellant and a gun ensuring the propulsion of the mixture on the surface to be treated and the rinsing of this surface.

The air-aggregate mixture is propelled from the pressure of the water transmitted by the high-pressure propellant and mixed in the gun with the air-aggregate mixture
The accompanying drawings illustrate the process: - Figure 1, on board 112, represents the entire process in operation - Figure 2, on board 212, shows, in section, the gun assembly with the nozzle
allowing mixing of aggregates and pressure settings.

The compressor (1) supplies the air necessary for the propulsion of the aggregates contained in the pressure tank (2) which contains these aggregates. The pressure at the outlet of the compressor must be 8 bars and the air flow by 2400 liters decreases.

At the outlet of the compressor (1), an air cooler (3) is connected to this compressor by a pipe (4). This cooler has the function of freeing the compressed air as much as possible from the condensation of water and bringing this compressed air to room temperature in order to avoid the formation of condensation in the pressure tank (2) containing the aggregates.

Ce refroidisseur est branché sur le réseau électrique 220V (5).This cooler is connected to the 220V electrical network (5).

The outlet of the cooler is connected to a pressure reducer (6) equipped with a pressure gauge (7) by a pipe (8).

This remote control is activated from an electrical control (9) located on the gun (1 1) and controlled by a solenoid valve (1 0) located on the pressure tank (2).

The air-aggregate mixture takes place in the pressure tank (2). This tank is connected to a gun (11) by a hose (12)
The pressure of the airlgranulate mixture at the level of the gun inlet (1 1) is 4 bars
The pressurized water necessary for propelling the airlgranulate mixture on the surface to be treated (31) is obtained by the use of a high pressure device (13) supplied with water by the pipe (14) and operating on the network. electric 220V (15)
This device supplies water at a pressure of 60 bars to the gun (11) through a pipe (16).

The general control of pressure water inlet in the gun (11) is ensured by the control (17)
The surface to be treated (31) is cleaned by the spray gun (1 1)
This gun has 2 circuits:
- a circuit for treating the surface to be cleaned
- A rinsing circuit
This gun consists of a housing (18) containing all the processing elements. This housing opens in 2 parts, in the longitudinal direction, in order to access all the elements constituting the gun
Water enters the gun through the hose (1 9) under a pressure of 60 bars. A control (17) makes it possible to dose or interrupt the arrival of water by action on the valve (20).

This assembly allows on one channel the rinsing of the cleaned surface (31). This rinsing is carried out by the micropulverization nozzle (22) controlled by the mini adjustment valve (23).

On the other track of the diverter assembly (21), another mini-valve (24) allows fine adjustment of the water pressure in the cleaning nozzle (25). The water then enters at a pressure of between 1.5 and 0.5 bars, via an injector orifice (26), into a mixing chamber (27).

Cet injecteur est incliné de 30 par rapport à l'axe longitudinal de la chambre de mélange(27).The airgranulate mixture arrives in the gun (11) through the pipe (28) and is injected into the mixing chamber (27) by an injector (29). This injector is inclined by 30 relative to the longitudinal axis of the mixing chamber (27).

This aidgranulate mixture is mixed with water in the mixing chamber (27) and is propelled into the nozzle (25) in cyclonic form due to the conical entry of the nozzle (30) and the inclination of the axis of the airlgranulats mixture injector (29) relative to the axis of water projection.

The outlet pressure, therefore working pressure on the surface to be cleaned, is between 1.5 and 0.5 bars.

The cleaning is carried out by light horizontal scrub and not by spraying a jet perpendicular to the surface to be treated (31).

The rinsing water containing no chemical process can be discharged directly to the drain without specific filtering and the working pressure being very low the installation of site is very light and does not cause any nuisance.

The process is particularly intended for cleaning buildings, monuments, statues, historical and archaeological heritage, removing graffiti.
