Abstract
Description
navires et plateformes de forage en mer.* The present invention is laughing at the construction or the transformation of
ships and offshore drilling platforms.
ils sont embarqués.* In the current state of the art, the lives of personnel on board
on board commercial, mineral, LNG, oil and other vessels
freighters, that of the personnel and passengers on board the ferries and
liners, finally the life of the personnel embarked on bard of the platforms
drilling, whether floating or not and without this being limiting, is direct
related to the fate of the ship or the platform they serve, or on which
they are on board.
époque.* Experience has shown, in fact, that lifeboats are rarely
effective, in the conditions of launching which are theirs, during a disaster
fatal: rough sea, cold outside and sea, which makes useless even
life jackets, in a rapid capsize, in a collision with another
ship or an iceberg, or even sabotage, risk to be taken into account in our
time.
forage, situées jusqu'a' quarante mètres au dessus de la mer, ne façilite pas les mises à l'eau.* In addition, the gigantism of the achievements, in particular for the pla te forms of
drilling, located up to forty meters above the sea, does not facilitate launching.
de kilomètres sont très aléatoires.* The remoteness is another aggravating factor, the relief to a few hundred
kilometers are very random.
iceberg
- Express of Ireland, 1.024 morts, à la suite d'une collision.* We will not mention the sinking of cargo ships whose list is impressive
but some typical cases concerning ocean liners, so we can note
- the Titanic, reputed to be unsinkable, 1,513 dead, following a collision n with a
iceberg
- Express of Ireland, 1,024 dead, following a collision.
- Eastland, 812 morts par chavirage. - Eastland, 812 capsized.
- St Philibert, 450 dead, sunk during a storm.
- In 1980, during a sinking, on 400 passengers, 66 people embarked
qué on canoes, 147 on a raft of 20 meters by 7. At 40 day, without
water or food, there are only 27 survivors, at 130 days they are no longer
only 15, of which 5 will succumb after being saved.
soviétiques.- to close this non-exhaustive list, in 86, there were 423
dead in collision in Black Sea between ocean liner and freighter
soviets.
- ferry-boat au Bangladesh 200 morts officiels.* For car ferries, we have just counted 200 dead during the capsizing of the "Herald of free enterprise" but the list goes on if we go back in time
- ferry-boat in Bangladesh 200 official dead.
les crocodiles.- ferry-boat in Ecuador 200 dead
- car ferry in Turkish 361 dead
- two colliding ferries, 1.1 72 dead
- ferry-boat in Zambia 400 dead, the shipwrecked are eaten by
crocodiles.
As for drilling platforms at sea, they are just as deadly.
There were 343 dead in various shipwrecks in late 1983, including that of the "ocean ranger", lost body and property with 80 people.
* The subject of the invention is a method and related devices
The process seeks to save men, grouped in "a boat on the ship when the ship sinks or the platform.
This provision considerably reduces the risk for staff or passengers on board. This has a favorable impact on the cost of insurance,
therefore reduces operating costs, and pays for a higher construction cost.
suite), prévue pour flotter par ses propres moyens, en cas de sinistre.* This process adapts to all types of ships or platforms currently existing, either by transforming them, or better, by designing them according to the process, indeed the invention proposes to dissociate:
- on the ship, the hold, whether or not loaded with freight, (called CARENE by the
continued) of the life part of the crew or passengers, (called HULL by the
continued), planned to float on its own, in the event of a disaster.
en cas de sinistre.- on a drilling platform, the legs and floatation box part
of the work-life part (hotel) brought to float by its own means,
in case of calamity.
We will develop below, the particularities of the process, by applying it to merchant ships, car ferries, ocean liners and flat! > drilling rmes, without being limiting.
According to a preferred form of the invention which relates to merchant ships, of all types, the castle, wearing the command bridge, constitutes an entity where all the men are grouped. These vessels are in fact built according to the "all aft" formula, which facilitates the application of the method according to the invention. This process consists in building a "standardized" castle adaptable to all types of hulls, the functions being the same.
This chateau designed in a substantially circular, even ovoid shape, like a beacon
which would reduce the aerodynamic drag, therefore the wind resistance, must be able to float on its own, its "false-hold" being ballasted to ensure stability, since the hull of the ship on which it was built, has sunk for whatever reason.
When the castle is in contact with water, Its own buoyancy causes it to separate from the flowing hull.
In order to facilitate this disjunction, the connections between the command bridge and the engine room are carried out by a leaktight conduit passing from the top to the bottom, and in which are grouped together: the chimney, the electrical connections (cables}, rigid mechanical transmissions (tubes and shafts)
For the electrical connections, the cables are disconnected by simple traction, for the fluids transmitted by tubes, they are separated by traction, (sliding of the tube in the joint), finally the transmissions by trees disjoin at the level of the square fitting, meant for that purpose. All these types of connection are perfectly known and defined.
According to the invention each connection, such as those of cables, pipes, will be the subject of a "lyre" of different diameters before connection, so that each cable, pipe, etc., is disjoined at a different time, under the tractio41e the hull sinking, and this, in order to avoid the phenomenon of formation of an indestructible beam, risquan, el 'to entrain at the bottom, the castle, following the hull.
For the passage of mechanics and drivers from the engine room to the castle, the "false hold" is fitted with a watertight door, automatically closed by air pocket, as described in Fig.2; as soon as the water reaches it, it ensures its closure.
From then on, the song floats, the men are safe and protected, but the castle is tossed according to the waves, the wind, the currents, hence the choice of a preferential circular or ovoid shape, and the need to equip it with '' a normal anchor and a floating anchor, to stabilize it while waiting for help
In addition, in order to have electrical current at all times, it is necessary to mount an autonomous generator in the false hold.
According to another preferred form of the invention, concerning car-ferries, the concept of "overall rescue of on-board persons" is introduced into the design of the ship.
The upper deck of the hull, is not flat but curved, it comprises series of slides, or even wheels fixed perpendicular to the direction of advance of the ship.
ordre et mécaniquement, sans attendre l'action automatique des crochets.* A prewe hull was built simultaneously to float independently and intended to receive the crew and passengers thotellerieJ. This hull rests on the series of slides or hull wheels; the two hulls
are secured by hooks, but can be released automatically by
case of capsizing, since the cottage, having reached 45, has become irre
versible. In the case of a vertical sinking, the decoupling is done on
order and mechanically, without waiting for the automatic action of the hooks.
quilibre définitivement le car-ferry et provoque son chavirement.* The present invention is completed by a device making it possible to remove
one of the ancillary causes of the capsizing of ferry boats: non-mooring
trucks occupying the lower parking deck; if the ferry takes a cottage
this causes heavy goods vehicles to only one side of the hold, which desires
definitely balances the car ferry and capsizes it.
lisses formant raidisseurs de la quille et des ponts proprement dits.* To overcome this crippling defect, the subject of the invention is the creation of a quay:
separating the rows of trucks themselves installed in single file; just a
plumb with these quays, in soffits, other beams make them pendant. so docks and soffits prevent any lateral sliding of the truck queues which eliminates
the risk described. Furthermore, the advantages are obvious, no mooring therefore
no loss of time and increased safety for sailors and drivers who
operate on the platforms and not on the parking deck; finally if the device is
applied to the design of the ship, docks and soffits constitute a series of
smooth forming stiffeners of the keel and bridges proper.
et avancent jusqu'à l'autre extrémité, au contact d'un butoir fixe, type S.N.CF.* In order to lower the center of gravity of the hull, the two ends
of the car park (trucks) are fitted with a lift, hydraulic or not
the trucks enter it, even the wagons, have gone down one level (bunkers)
and advance to the other end, in contact with a fixed stop, SNCF type.
The last heavyweight can be blocked at the bumper, by a bumper
hydraulic advancing horizontally, in contact.
du chargement.* This type of car ferry can be loaded either by the AV or by the AR
of the ship, any kings, it must title unloaded by the opposite end to that
loading.
PAQUEBOTS
* According to another preferred form of the invention, concerning ocean liners,
introduces the concept of "collective rescue of people and
onboard personnel ".
de sinistre,- de façon autonome, avec l'ensemble des personnes embarquées, équipage, personnel d'hotellerie et passagers.* For this fact, we build a hull with a bulb and lines
profiled, sue to reduce the resistance to advancement. This hull is
intended to absorb any possible frontal or lateral impact bias, with an obstacle
floating, either stationary (iceberg for example) or moving (ship for example)
* In the center of this hull, there is a "cradle" at the bottom of which will come
to embed the hull of the liner with its propulsion organs, the propellers
turning in "conduits" crossing the hull, as in the system of
hydrojets, as well as the rudder (s). This is equivalent to placing a shell
rustic in a streamlined hull .. This hull is designed to float in case
claims, - independently, with all the people on board, crew, hotel staff and passengers.
In the event of an impact, it is important that the tears and subsequent deformation of the hull do not come to "wedge" the hull, rendering the system useless.
To compensate for this, a perimeter vacuum is provided between the hull and the hull, the latter resting on the bottom of the hull which positions it. In order to avoid filling the perimetric void with sea water, envelopes in the form of a sausage, are inflated with compressed air, they seal the hull and hull. Furthermore, in order to ensure the connection, hooks conforming to the
Fig.3 are placed in the hull in the best locations, they do not emerge from their housing until the water invades the hull.
This design allows automatic decoupling of the two sets in case the hull sinks, the hull floats alone and autonomous, retaining its maneuverability. In addition, the present invention is completed by a device described in Fig.2 which allows the connecting doors between the hull and the hull, to close automatically, in the event of a disaster, when water invades the hull.
According to another preferred form of the invention, concerning drilling platforms, the concept of rescue of on-board personnel is transformed or introduced into the design of the platform.
* In the current state of the art of construction of offshore drilling platforms, the generally accepted concept is the grouping of work and life functions, on a platform supported by a base composed of cylindrical and vertical pylons, which emerge above the sea from thirty to forty meters and dive towards (one or more) caissons on which they are supported. These boxes are said to be "semi-submersible".
* The type of improvement which is the subject of the invention adapts to all types of platforms currently existing and remedies their defect, namely their monolithism which means that, in the event of a disaster, the risk run by on-board personnel ( from 100 to 500 men depending on the type) is catastrophic.
This invention dissociates the "work and life pontoon", designed to float on its own, from the base part and the floatation boxes. If the semi-submersible part darkens, the upper part floats, saving the personnel on board. This process saves men but can also save the high-value materials equipping the work part. (Generators, pumps etc>
This pontoon has a normal anchor and a floating anchor. As for electricity, all its equipment being saved with the staff, it continues to meet the energy needs.
* This invention considerably reducing the risk incurred, secures the staff. n has a favorable impact on the cost of insurance, it justifies a higher purchase price of around 5% of the price of the platform.
According to a preferred form of the invention, which relates to both ships and platforms, a "door closing device is provided ensuring the connection between the standard of living (hull) and the floatation level (Fig. 2) of course this use is not limiting.
The closing takes place automatically, without any order or human intervention, and only in the event of a sinking, this to compensate for the possible failure of the order. (temporary incapacity due to shock, for example) * This type of door opens from top to bottom, (like a livestock door, on the panel from which one walks) and from the inside to the outside. On its external face, it is provided with an "air pocket" which makes it float and therefore raises it as soon as the water is at its level. Two springs tension two return cables, which attract them towards the wall, as soon as the water having raised the door the resultant of the tension of the springs ceases to be negative.
The rising water applies its pressure to the closed panel. A flexible profile peripheral to the door, ensures sealing; interior levers allow subsequent manual locking.
* This type of door can include stair steps if necessary.
It can also include one or more closing systems, controlled remotely or on site, but in no case should they prevent automatic closing.
BETWEEN HULL AND HULL * According to a preferred form of the invention, which relates to ships as well as drilling platforms, an automatic device is proposed e for unlocking the "hooks" responsible for binding together, the hull and hull; this device avoids any untimely uncoupling of the two elements, for example during a tempeote which, however violent it may be, would not jeopardize the safety of the ship. (Fig.3) * The blocking must be constant and reliable; unlocking should only take place once, when the boat sinks. n must therefore be done automatically and without any human intervention, which may be lacking, which would be catastrophic, the uncoupling cannot take place, the hull being driven by the hull, during the sinking.
This type of blocking is ensured by an eccentric hook, rotating on an axis integral with the flotation hull. The foot, heavier than the hook, tends to keep hooking permanently. The opposite movement is obtained when the hull is invaded by sea water; this water lifts the air pocket attached to the foot of the hook and automatically releases the hook from its housing in the hull. n are provided as many hooks as necessary, according to the resistance calculations.

Fig. 4c represents the hull 29, uncoupled and floating.
La Fig.4d représente la carène 30 également désaccouplée.Fig.4d shows the hull 30 also uncoupled.
* with reference to Fig. Sa, one can see the engine room 24, and the conduits 31 and 32, ensuring the passage of orders and chimneys, (see merchant ships and Pl 1/5), sectionable at the link hull 33.
The curved upper deck 34, of the hull 30, and the false hold 35, of the hull 29, fitted one into the other.
With reference to Fig. Sb, the system is described which overcomes the dangers of a strong roll, which can cause a capsize, it is constituted by the platforms 36, overhung by the soffits 37,. We also see the elevators 38, for wagon or heavy goods vehicles, surmounted by the false bridge 39, which is integral with it, supporting the heavy goods vehicles. The pedestrian circulation system consists of the stairs 40, rolling or not; the assembly equipping the hull 30; in the separable shell 29, the watertight doors 4 appear.
* With reference to Fig. SC, we can see the shell 29 dissociated from the hull 30,
and floating after capsizing and uncoupling.
PAQUEBOT FIG. 6a, b, and c. - Pu 4/5 * With reference to Fig. 6a, a preferred arrangement is described here concerning the liners which, when the hull 39 is dissociated, from the hull 42, appears to be not very hydrodynamic, but floating, while retaining its navigation capacity. In Fig. 6b, a hull 39 is constructed, with one (or more) step 40, a cradle 41, makes it possible to house the hull 42, at its center, by providing a perimetric vacuum, occluded by envelopes 43, inflated with air compressed. In Fig.6c, we see devices 5 (see Fig.3) which block the shell 42, on the hull 39. Doors 4, Fig.2) provide a sealed passage; between the hull and the hull. We can also see the tunnels 44, which provide propulsion by a hydroiet type system.
PI 5/5 * With reference to Fig. 7 a and b, a close reference is made to a preferential provision relating to drilling platforms. A conventional base 45, semi-submersible (or a fixed base resting on the bottom of the sea) is constructed comprising at its center a bowl 46 in which a pontoon 47 comes to rest, comprising (or not) the work equipment and 1 hotel of life
Hooks 5 (see Fig. 2) block the pontoon 47 on the plate 48, and only release the two elements when they are immersed, except, at any time, by manual or mechanical control desired. In the event of a disaster, the derrick 49 is lowered, its head embedded in the pontoon 47, means that its fully submerged foot acts as a stabilizer for pontoon 47, floating on its own.
* Fangs (see Fig.3) are integral with the cradle 46, they fix the pontoon 47 on the platform 48 * Doors 4 (see Fig. 2) give access to a gangway 51.
