Abstract

The biorhythmic feeder consists of a store of feed in the form of a conventional hopper 1 whose length and capacity are variable and whose bottom is at a slight angle and projects towards the animal to form a sill 3 which slows the gravitational descent of the feed, the feed outlet being above the water outlet 8, well above the bottom of the trough 6, on the retaining sill 3. The feeder also comprises a sliding door 4 as a means of adjusting and stopping the flow by closing off the free space, this door being controlled from above by means of links 4 bis fixed to the water outlet tube 5 providing the movement. It comprises a drinking means fixed directly to the water tube 5 with closure by means of the lever located at its end in three positions: - position 7 for descent of water plus feed; - intermediate position 11 to allow the animals to continue to drink after the descent of feed has been stopped; - retracted position within the housing 10, the drinking means being thereby placed out of reach so as to ration the water.
