Abstract

This ribbon is of the type in which the scalloped hem is produced by means of a yarn 4 of multistrand synthetic material entering the yarns 2-3 of the selvage, forming a scalloped picot. According to the invention each of the scallops of the scalloped hem is fixed by heat-setting, in the selvage, a yarn 5 forming the scalloped hem. The process for its manufacture consists in adding to the multistrand yarn 4 made of synthetic material constituting the scalloped hem a single-strand yarn 5 which can melt at a temperature which does not destroy the ribbon and the scalloped hem, in producing the scalloped hems in a known manner, and in heating the ribbon to the melting temperature of the thermofusible yarn.
