Abstract
Description
Chaudière électrique.Electric boiler.
The present invention relates to an electrically heated boiler, and more particularly to a new construction of a heating element for an electric boiler.
In electric boilers, the heating element generally consists of armored resistors or electrodes embedded in the fluid to be heated. Armored resistance boilers are very sensitive to scaling of resistors, which gradually causes a loss of transfer and in the long run, the destruction of these resistors. As for boilers with submerged electrodes, they have the drawback of seeing their power vary according to the conductivity of the fluid to be heated which varies greatly with the temperature and the salinity of the fluid. As a result, electric boilers should ideally be supplied with a purified fluid to avoid the presence of dissolved salts, but known techniques only partially overcome the aforementioned drawbacks and they affect the cost price
The object of the invention is to provide an electric boiler which can be supplied with a fluid charged with dissolved salts, even encrusting salts, without suffering damage due to scaling or significant variation in its power due to the change in conductivity of the fluid.
This object is achieved thanks to the invention by an electric boiler comprising a heating element in contact with the fluid to be heated, characterized in that the heating element consists of at least one non-insulated electric resistant wire of predetermined length, immersed in the fluid to be heated and the ends of which are connected to a potential difference, said non-insulated electrical resistant wire extending at a certain distance above the bottom of a boot of insulating material open at its upper part, the bottom of said boot being pierced with an opening to which is connected a tube having a predetermined length and connecting the interior of the boot and the water chamber of the boiler.
The inventlon is explained in more detail in the following on an exemplary embodiment illustrated in the attached drawings.
FIG. 1 schematically shows an interior view of a body of a steam boiler according to the invention, FIG. 2 is a schematic transverse view along line II-II of FIG. 1.
The heating element consists of at least one non-insulated electrical resistant wire 4, the ends of which are connected to a potential difference by the conductors 5 and the connection pins 12. The resistant wire or wires 4 are made of a material having an electrical conductivity which varies little with temperature and extends a certain distance above the bottom of a boot of insulating material 6 fixed inside the tank 1. This boot is open at its upper part and its the bottom is pierced with an opening to which is connected a tube 7 which connects the interior of the boot and the water chamber II of the boiler. The boot 6 is partially immersed in the fluid to be heated so that its upper part either in communication with the vapor chamber 10 of the tank and that the resistant wire or wires 4 are immersed in the fluid
When applying a potential difference across the resistors 4, a large electrical current flows through the heating wires 4 and a weak electrical current flows through the fluid contained in the box 6. The length thereof determines the amount of electrical energy absorbed by the fluid as a function of the salinity of the latter and of the potential difference across the heating wires 4. The current flow through the fluid has the effect of precipitating in non-encrusting amorphous form, the salts contained in the fluid and which are normally encrusting, for example the limestone salts contained in the water. The precipitated salts are conveyed into the water chamber al by the tubes 7 and they form in the bottom of the tank, sludge which is eliminated with the purges by the purge line 8 equipped with a valve. The steam produced in the steam chamber 10 is discharged through a line 9 fitted with a valve. The fluid supply from above the box 6 facilitates the entrainment of the sludge formed towards the tube 7 and the water chamber.
As we know that the conductivity of water increases with temperature and that on the other hand we want to limit the purges of deconcentration of water in the boiler we will limit by the length of the boot the current absorbed by water to% of the nominal power of the resistor 4 calculated for the resistivity of water at room temperature so
that the electrode current does not exceed 10 to 15% of the nominal power when the resistivity of water is the lowest. This difference is not annoying for the user of the boiler but allows, by measuring the electrical power absorbed, to order a deconcentration purge when the power reaches 110 or 115% of the nominal power. The tube or tubes 7 have an equal length 35 to 50 times their internal diameter in order to limit leakage to the mass to a negligible value.
Thanks to the arrangement according to the invention, an electric boiler can be supplied both with a fluid charged with dissolved salts, even encrusting, as with a purified fluid or distilled water without it being damaged due to scaling or does not see its power vary by more than 10 to 15% approximately.
This therefore results in a better long-term yield and an appreciable saving in production.
The heating element according to the invention can be supplied with a three-phase voltage. In this case, three resistant wires 4 or three groups of resistant wires 4 are connected in a triangle or a star depending on the mounting of the three-phase network. The resistant wires 4 can be arranged in three separate bundles 6 as shown in FIG. 2 or be arranged in a single bundle while ensuring a sufficient distance between the connection points connected to two distinct phases or to one phase and to neutral.
It is understood that the arrangement according to the invention applies to any type of boiler: steam boiler, hot water boiler, booster boiler for example.
