Abstract

The invention relates to a device making it possible to actuate the valves of an internal combustion engine by means of electromagnets, triggered by a rotary pulse generator. The pulse generator is composed of a casing made of an insulating material, fitted with angular position sensors 2. Inside the casing a rotor composed of a set of discs equal in number to the number of valves is connected to the drive shaft, by means of the spindle. Each disc of the rotor is fitted, at its perimeter, with a number of induction signals corresponding to the open and closed periods of each of the valves. These signals, by changing the open and closed periods of the valves during operation, have the effect of shifting the drive torque, and matching it to the available power according to the load required, for each of the speeds in question. The device, according to the invention, makes up for the imperfections of entirely mechanical actuators to which the movement of the valves is linked in an unvariable manner.
