Abstract

The invention relates to a technique for collecting rainwater on roofs, particularly for those in which the roofing material is vegetal. The device comprises, instead of conventional roof ridges, a valley channel consisting of a trough in the shape of a "V", or similar shape which is flared and has a flat bottom, with two sides or wings having harmoniously chosen inclinations, and the bottom having one or more sloping lines for collecting the rainwater and conveying it towards discharge pipes leading to one or more storage tanks. In the attached diagrammatical figure, the trough is a half-parallepiped (or similar volume) with base DFE and D'F'E' and sides DFF'D' and EFF'E', open on the side DEE'D'. The trough may comprise one or more overflow devices. The slopes may be covered with photovoltaic panels or solar collectors, and may comprise turned-down strips forming a drip moulding on the roof slopes. In a variant, the tank or tanks are housed in shells or floats supporting a structure which is thus allowed to float. The invention makes it possible to provide a total or partial independent supply of cold or hot water and of electricity, for certain domestic or craft-related uses.
