Abstract

The fine-tuning equipment is for a stringed musical instrument. It has an adjusting screw acting on a tension lever, in which there is a groove for the insertion of the string end with an anchoring device. A radius (14) is formed at the outlet end of the groove (7), and against which the string (9) bears where it emerges from the latter. This radius can be formed on a protrusion, and it can be of 1.2mm at least, and typically between 1.5 and 2.5mm. The design reduces the risk of string breakage.

Description

The invention consists of a precision tone device for stringed instruments by means of a movable clamping lever fixed to an easel of the instructor, an adjusting screw for operating the clamping lever and, with the clamping lever, a groove intended for the insertion of an end of the cord provided with an anchoring eyelet.

With known precision tone devices of this nature, which are particularly intended to be attached to the bridge of bowed instruments such as violins, cellos, double basses, the string passes after its exit from the groove on a sharp edge which, during of the tension of the rope following the handling of the adjusting screw, sinks into it and damages it, so that lVon can easily lead to a break in the rope.

The aim of the invention is to eliminate this shortcoming and develop a generic precision tone device, avoiding the breaking of the string up to the clamping lever and its groove.

The invention achieves the aim sought by the arrangement at the end of the groove of a rounding on which the rope comes to be wound at its exit from the groove.

By way of additional explanation, we give below a description of a preferred embodiment of the invention to which we attach sketches. These represent
NI sketch a top view of an easel with precision tone device
Sketch NO 2: an enlarged longitudinal section of line 2-2 of sketch N0 I
Sketch NO 3: a clamping lever and,
Sketch NO 4: a top view of the clamping lever of sketch NO 4 in the direction of arrow A.

The sketch NO I represents a bridge 1 fixed in the usual way on a bowed instrument (pwe. Violin, cello, double bass) Bridge 1 is used to hold one end of the strings, the other end of which is racco-rdée to pegs of the bowed instrument. To accurately tune the various strings, four-one bridge I is integrated with precision tone strings 2, one of which is modeled laterally by sketch N 2.

The precision tone device comprises as an essential element, around an axis passing at an angle in the easel 1, a clamping lever 4 of angled shape. A adjusting screw 6 fixed to the bridge 1 by means of a threaded ring 5 hooks the long branch of the clamping lever 4. On the short branch of the clamping lever 4, see in particular sketch N9 3 and NO 4, a groove is arranged 7. In this groove is posed the end usually provided with a thickening 8, of a cord 9. In general, the cord is provided at its end with an anchoring element, eg a small eyelet, in order to prevent the rope, when it is stretched, from escaping from the groove 7. The rope, fixed to the ankle of the instrument, is precisely tuned by the use of the adjusting screw 6 causing the lever to move tightening 4. The path of the tightening lever 4 is shown in sketch NO 2 by a line formed by lines and dots.

As is particularly apparent from sketches NO 3 and NO 4, the groove 7 has at its end 12, facing the side of the groove supporting the anchoring element 11, a projection 13 in the form of a nose, the upper part of which constitutes a round 14.At its exit from the groove 7 (sketch NO 2), the cord 9 rests on the round. The bottom of the groove 7 remaining, as shown in the sketch NO 3, continuous and smooth passing to the round 14, and the latter being curved and shaped accordingly, there is no sharp edge risking, during of the evolution of the clamping lever 4 along the line of lines and points represented in the sketch NO 2, of sinking into the rope and damaging it.

Done, whatever the position of the clamping lever 4, the rope always rests rounded on the projection 13 so that it is protected against breakage.

In addition, the nose-shaped projection 13 arranged in front of the end of the groove 7 has the advantage of extending the arm of the clamping lever 4 used for adjusting the precision of the tone relative to its fixing axis 3. A different embodiment of the invention makes it possible to eliminate this projection. In this case, the edge located at the outlet of the groove between the two stops 15 and 16 (sketch NO 4) delimiting the latter must itself be rounded, in which case the rounding may extend in part to the inside the groove 7.

It has been found that to avoid breaking the rope, the rounding must have a radius of curvature of at least 1.2 mm.

Preferably, this radius of curvature will be between 1.5 and 2.5 mm. In this regard, the radius of curvature depends on the thickness of the cord and the corresponding instrument. For voluminous instruments (double basses) and larger thicknesses of strings, the radius of curvature of the rounding 14 will be increased at the same time.
