Abstract

The method uses flattened points (8) to fix a heat bonded aluminium cover (5) over an opening in a container for wine ensuring that the cover cannot be re-used. The cover is bonded to a plastics ring (1) so that it is pierced by the points, flattening being effected by the application of heat from below. The cover may be precoated with a heat bonding varnish and bonding may be carried out before the points are flattened.
