Abstract

A buckle comprising a pair of plastic mouldings each trailing a crossbar for securing e.g. a fabric or leather belt and having complementary interlocking tongue and socket profiles feature a pair of cantilevered tabs on either side of the socket profile so that by manually squeezing the tube, the socket is deformed to allow the tongue half of the buckle to be readily disengaged. The head of the tongue is a sprung fit into a window in the socket and is exposed so that pressure can be applied to align the tongue with the throat of the (squeezed) socket for withdrawal. Pref. the tube include oblique internal shoulders which act as wedges to help disengage and realign the tongue for withdrawal.
