Abstract

The filter has a pair of short, tubular filter elements of which one is pushed up each nostril. Each element has perforated ends and contains a substance such as silica gel to retain impurities carried by air passing through the element. The two elements are connected by a short cord, pref. elastic, on the outside of the nose. The cord prevents the elements being pushed too far up the nostrils and serves for pulling out the elements.

Description

The present invention relates to the protection of people against atmospheric pollution of the air breathes.

The devices used have been found to be inconvenient to use (masks applied externally to the face), ineffective and / or bothersome (cotton balls in the nostrils).

The invention overcomes these drawbacks and aims at a nasal device for protection against atmospheric pollution, characterized in that it comprises two tubes, of appropriate size, to be introduced into the nose through the nostril and housed in the vestibule, a product placed in the tube to retain impurities, a cord joining the base of the two tubes, so as to limit their penetration into the nasal cavity, and facilitate their extraction. Each tube is closed at each end by an air-permeable cover after having been filled with silica gel or other crystals or other vegetable or mineral fibers. So that all the air breathed in necessarily passes through the tube, the latter is provided externally with one or more flexible flaps with lamellae resting on the mucous membranes of the nasal walls. These flanges ensure both the sealing and the anchoring of the tube in the vestibule of the nose.

To better understand the invention, an exemplary embodiment is given below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the entire filter,
Fig. 3 is a sectional view of a filter tube,
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a variant.

The tubes can be made of any suitable material, in particular using a cellulosic sheet or extruded or injected into a flexible plastic material, in dimensions such that a tube 1 can be introduced into one nostril 4. The tubes 1- 2 are joined by a small cord 3 fixed on them, preferably transparent, elastic or not, or flesh-colored, so that when they are introduced into the nostrils 4, they cannot be pushed too deeply into the fossa 5. After installation, the cord 5 remains outside and passes under the septum of the nose.

l'out retirer les tubes 1-2 il suffit de tirer sur le cordonnet 3. the out remove the tubes 1-2 just pull on the cord 3.

Each tube is filled with silica gel 6 closed by sieves 7 and 8.

The tubes 9, 10 can be conical, ovoid, curved and closed at the base by an air-permeable cap 11 or 12 in the middle of which the cord 13 is fixed.

The tubes can be slightly compressible and / or elastic to apply well against the mucous membrane of the nose and ensure a good seal. It is also possible to provide each tube with small flanges 14, 15 which are very flexible (and possibly wavy) which not only ensure the watertightness, but also a real anchoring. Thus the tubes cannot move unexpectedly.

The device according to the invention filters the polluted air and rids it of most of the impurities (tar) without any slowing down of the ventilatory mechanics, causes neither irruption nor nasalization. In the case of mineral substance (silica gel) the filter also has hypoallergenic properties.
