Abstract

The sailboard sail is furnished with openings which may have any known geometric shape. The openings may be located anywhere in the sail. The openings may be sealed off by sliding clasp fasteners which are made of plastics and may be operated on either side of the sail. The base of the opening is reinforced by an extra strip of material stitched across the patch. The openings are made to reduce the pressure on the sail in case of an increase in wind velocity.

DESCRIPTION
+ t + tat + tt + tstot + t + t +
The present invention relates to a part of the "flap" type for windsurfing sail, allowing the user to decrease the wind pressure in the sail as desired.

In the material currently known, it is necessary to change the sail according to the force of the wind; which is hardly possible when you are surprised by a gust of wind. A rescue boat is required to be towed. There is therefore a serious risk of going away from the beach without being able to return to it with all that this implies as setbacks.

The shutter according to the invention makes it possible to avoid these risks. It is indeed adaptable to all sails, opens and closes simply by a "zipper".

According to a first variant, it is a completely independent piece and of a different color from that of the sail which makes it possible to locate it quickly in the water. The opening or closing of this part is controlled by a zipper with a double zipper cursor allowing its operation on both sides of the sail.

According to a second variant, the flap can be practiced directly on the sail without adding additional parts. In both variants, it can take various geometrical forms compatible with its efficiency. The opening itself can also take various geometric shapes such as: doucine, lanceolate, semicircular, raised, bonbe, elliptical, warhead, crawling, broken, bent, overstepped, lowered, tudor, etc.

Once the flap is open, it can be applied 'against the window either by a retaining elastic or by a Wauto-grip process'.

The accompanying drawing is an elevation showing the different locations of the shutters. As shown, the device comprises a piece of fabric of the same weight as 192 that of the sail, but of a different color sewn onto the sail like the other parts of the said sail (1) with a resistant zipper with seawater with double zipper t23 with a reinforcement seam below the flap going to the ends of the part (3). The open shutter is held flat with the piece either by an elastic or by a hook-and-loop fastener (4).

The device, object of the invention can be used in all cases where the force of the wind is greater than the physical resources of the windsurfer, in the case of sudden and unforeseen muscular fatigue. It can allow raids without having to change sail according to the strength of the wind. With the safety flap it is also possible to increase the surface area of the sails. Opening the shutter increases safety by allowing increased visibility.
