Abstract
CELLULE ELECTROCHIMIQUE ET SON PROCEDE DE FABRICATION. ON PROPOSE UNE CELLULE ELECTROCHIMIQUE PERFECTIONNEE COMPORTANT UNE ANODE DE LITHIUM, UN ELECTROLYTE COMPRENANT DU CHLORURE DE THIONYLE ET UNE CATHODE, LE PERFECTIONNEMENT RESIDANT DANS UN REVETEMENT DE COMPLEXE DE PHTALOCYANINE SUR LA CATHODE. APPLICATION DES CELLULES ELECTROCHIMIQUES.
Description
La présente invention concerne une cellu-
le électrochimique et son procédé de fabrication.
L'évolution récente dans le domaine élec-
trochimique nécessite des cellules électrochimiques à régime très élevé. Etant donné leur potentiel élevé, les accumula- teurs au lithium et au chlorure de thionyle conviendraient particulièrement à de nombreuses applications si l'on pouvait améliorer le régime. Il faut augmenter la densité de courant, qui est proportionnelle au régime auquel une cellule peut
se décharger, si l'on veut obtenir, dans une cellule prati-
que, un régime de 150 mA/cm2.
Selon l'invention, on propose une cellule électrochimique perfectionnée comportant une anode de lithium,
un électrolyte comprenant du chlorure de thionyle et une ca-
thode, le perfectionnement résidant dans un revêtement de com-
plexe de phtalocyanine sur la cathode.
Parmi les complexes de phtalocyanine qui sont spécialement préférés figurent les complexes formés par
la phtalocyanine avec les métaux de transition comme le nic-
kel, le cuivre, le cobalt, ainsi que les phtalocyanines po-
lymères et les phtalocyanines substituées, Pour appliquer le revêtement de complexe de phtalocyanine, on prépare une solution d'un complexe tel que la phtalocyanine-cobalt ou la phtalocyanine-cuivre dans un solvant organique, en quantité comprise de préférence entre environ 2 et 10% en poids. Des solvants typiques sont le
tétrahydrofuranne, le diméthylformamide, le trichloréthylè-
ne, l'acétonitrile, le nitrométhane. On plonge dans la solu-
tion les matières de cathode telles que le platine ou le car-
bone vitreux, on les retire et on les sèche au four à vide.
Typiquement, 15 minutes à environ 1500C conviennent à l'éli-
mination du solvant. Il reste alors sur la cathode un mince
revêtement du complexe de phtalocyanine.
On a réalisé plusieurs expériences en uti-
lisant divers complexesde phtalocyanine dans des cellules au lithium et au chlorure de thionyle. Dans chaque cas, les
cellules comportant un complexe de phtalocyanine sur la ca-
thode ont un régime supérieur de 50% à beaucoup plus de 100% (c'est-àdire 2 ou 3 fois supérieur), tel qu'on le mesure par
le courant engendré. Le tableau ci-après présente des résul-
tats démontrant les qualités supérieures des cellules selon l'invention. On a noté aussi, dans tous les cas, que le po- tentiel de réduction de l'électrode revêtue de l'invention se déplaçait à une valeur nettement positive d'environ 100
mV en comparaison des cathodes non revêtues. Un potentiel de.
réduction positif, même de ce niveau, tend à faire fonction-
ner la cellule à une plus basse température et une moindre
quantité de chaleur est engendrée pendant la décharge rapi-
de.

La cellule décrite ci-dessus est applica-
ble à toute cellule au lithium et au chlorure de thionyle et convient particulièrement pour améliorer le régime des
cellules o la cathode est formée d'un métal tel que le pla-
tine, le nickel ou l'acier inoxydable. En outre, l'invention convient particulièrement bien pour améliorer les cellules
o la cathode est formée de carbone sous une forme ou une au-
tre, par exemple de disques de carbone vitreux.
Claims (9)
1. Cellule électrochimique comportant une anode de lithium, un électrolyte comprenant du chlorure de
thionyle et une cathode.caractérisée en ce que la cathode por-
te un revêtement de complexe de phtalocyanine.
2. Cellule selon la revendication 1, carac-
térisée en ce que le complexe de phtalocyanine est un comple-
xe de phtalocyanine et de métal de transition.
3. Cellule selon la revendication 2, carac-
tériséeen ce que le métal de transition est le nickel, le cui-
vre ou le cobalt.
4. Cellule selon l'une quelconque des re-
vendications 1 à 3, caractérisée en ce que la cathode est for-
mée d'un métal.
5. Cellule selon la revendication 4, ca-
ractérisée en ce que le métal est le platine, le nickel, ou
l'acier inoxydable.
6. Cellule selon l'une quelconque des re-
vendications 1 à 3, caractérisée en ce que la cathode est
formée de carbone.
7. Procédé de fabrication de la cellule
électrochimique selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1
à 6, caractérisé en ce qu'il consiste à appliquer le com-
plexe à la cathode en séchant sous vide une cathode qui a été mise en contact avec une solution du complexe dans un solvant.
8. Procédé selon la revendication 7, ca-
ractérisé en ce que la solution contient 2 à 10 en poids du complexe.
9. Procédé selon l'une des revendications
7 ou 8, caractérisé en ce que le solvant est le tétrahydro-
furanne, le diméthylformamide, le trichloréthylène, l'acéto-
nitrile ou le nitrométhane.
