Abstract

The projector uses a laser as the light source to allow projection over long distances. The light emanating from the laser (1) is reflected firstly from a mirror (2) which has a slight horizontal oscillation, then from a second mirror (4) having a slight vertical oscillation. The combined effect of the oscillations of the two mirrors is to produce a Lissajous figure which to the human eye appears to define a small rectangle. By horizontal and vertical positioning of the oscillating mirrors an image is formed dependent on the amount of light emitted for particular orientations of the mirrors. Electronic circuits may be used to position the laser and the mirrors so that a transparency is scanned and its image projected onto a distant surface.

Description

The present invention relates to a projector device taking advantage of the particular properties of the LASER beam.

In conventional projectors, a spontaneous emission light source is used, associated with optical devices distributing the light in a solid angle and on the path of which obstacles of variable optical density are interposed in order to obtain an image on a screen. .

Such devices do not make it possible to obtain projections at very great distances.

The device according to the invention makes it possible to remedy this drawback. In fact, a coherent light beam is used, very slightly diverging and which propagates at considerable distances, several kilometers for a power of 100 milliwatts. This beam is reflected successively on two or more mirrors associated with vibrating devices, blades or tuning forks, so as to obtain a scanning of the space by the ray at a solid angle suitable in shape and dimensions for the use for which it is destined.

FIG. 1 schematically represents the simplest form of the device according to the invention. A LASER ray 1 strikes the mirror 2 secured to a vibrating blade 3 whose vibration plane is horizontal, after reflection, it strikes the mirror 4 of a vibrating blade 5 whose vibration plane is vertical and results in a screen 6 When the blade 3 is alone in vibration, a horizontal trace is obtained on the screen 7. When the blade 5 is alone in motion, a vertical trace is obtained 8. When the two blades are simultaneously in vibration, an oo figure which depena of their amplitude and their relative frequency. By intervening on these parameters, one can make so as to obtain a Lissajous with very tight weft that the eye observes like a continuous spot of rectangular or square shape according to the value of amplitudes. This result is obtained all the more sharply as the frequencies are higher.

By interposing on the ray path, at some distance from the mirrors, obstacles of variable optical density, we obtain the projection of an image.

The device according to the invention can be used in all cases where one wants to ootient a projection at very great aistance or to make use of ~ the spectacular effect of the LASER ray for more reduced aistances.

With this device, you can project drawings, texts, slides or films. It allows to project informative or advertising messages on natural obstructions, road, reliefs, clouds, or on artificial screens outside or in public places.

Other particularly interesting names can be the replacement of conventional light sources for the projection of slides or color films in projection devices using white LASER. It can also be used to spot obstacles from any vehicle.
