Abstract

Fresh air is introduced under the hearth (1) through an inlet (2). The air is warmed during its passage under the fire and then passes through a duct (4) behind the fireback (3) which has an extended surface area to improve the heat exchange rate. Four passages (7) then conduct the air through the inner chimney hood and into the outer hood (10) from where the warm air discharges upwards into the room. On each side of the fireplace is a water jacket connected to the heating circuit.
