Abstract

The machine tool-mounting permits displacements in three perpendicular directions together with pivoting about two perpendicular axes (A,B). A slide (9) traverses the beam (3) of a travelling portal frame (1), permitting tool displacements in two horizontally perpendicular directions (X,Y). A tool-slide (10) can displace vertically (W) relative to the slide, locating milling heads (12) which can pivot about axes (A). The beam can pivot about an axis (B) parallel to slide travel, driven by a motor (8) and screw (7). The motor may be mounted on a portal leg (1), and screw (7) may enter the pillow block (6) which is pinned (5) to the beam.
