Abstract

Each archway entrance has a bay or segment separately covered by textile material, to reduce the stress on the long lengths of heavy material normally used for this purpose. The coverings, produced separately for each bay, are fixed to each purlin or ridge by e.g. lacings in eyelet strips attached to the fabric by sewing and/or welding, or by a cable shaped into sewn or welded loops. In this way, a finer fabric may be used for the archway, or a fabric of the usual weight may be used to span wider arches.

Description

Textile structures known as "worn on arches" and operating in accordance with the theory of membranes currently require, as soon as the span exceeds 30 or 35 meters, the use of heavy fabrics with high mechanical performance. Due to the high elasticity of current textile materials, the action of climatic overloads over long lengths results in deformations such that the bases of the calculation are completely distorted. Sometimes even, one can fear flapping of the membrane in the wind. In addition, dynamic effects known as "flag blows" cause on the members for fixing the membrane to the arches and foundations (eyelets, hooks, cords or the like) significant overloads.

The present invention makes it possible to reduce these drawbacks, at an equal reach, or to increase the latter without observing any worsening of the drawbacks listed above.

The arches on which the membranes of the so-called "arched" structures are stretched are generally either of glued-laminated wood or of steel tubes, and with three-dimensional architecture. In both cases, the membrane elements or the membrane ( if it is in one piece) are fixed to the arches. When the structure is made up of separate elements, the most common method of fixing is a threading with a textile cord in eyelets of the fabric and around one of the tubes When it is in one piece, the membrane is equipped with straps or cable loops, the action of which secures the canvas and the arches. When the arches are made of wood, an arc following the purlins whose function is to ensure the overall stability of the arcs but which do not receive any direct stress from the fabric. When the arcs are made of steel, these purlins are replaced by steel cables which brace the arcs but do not receive more d direct action. some cobweb.

According to the provisions of the present invention, one or more failures are also established, of a judiciously chosen neutral line, connecting two successive arcs. However, these breakdowns are calculated and carried out so that the textile membrane (s) can be attached to it in the same way as on the arches and on the ground or in a different way but in any case under conditions such as the or the faults directly support the overloads induced by the membranes or membrane elements.

In structures constructed according to the provisions of the present invention, the membranes or elements of membranes are therefore no longer free to lengthen over the entire span but, because of their fastenings to the interlayer (s), the length along which they are likely to lengthen is reduced. Therefore, or, at constant range, we can use a less resistant textile material by dimensioning it according to the rate of work at the admissible traction, or else, with equal elongation tolerance, ie without weighing down the fabric, we can step over longer spans.

When the covering is made of separate membrane elements, the present invention also consists in the joining of these elements to the intermediate purlins by providing the seal at these solidarisatinons.

When the covering is produced in unitary elements for a span, the present invention also consists in the joining of the membrane to the interlayer (s), by any process such as lacing from one or more bands of eyelets added to the membrane by sewing, welding or stitching and welding, cabal wrapped in a stitched, welded or sewn and welded loop, or any other process.

Figures 3 and 4 show an embodiment of the present invention.

The vertical 1 and oblique arcs 3 which constitute the fixed structure ensuring the general stability of the building with a textile membrane are linked at the head by a series of purlins 6, however an inclined purl 7 connects the oblique arch 3 to the ground. Canvas pieces 5 are then stretched between the aces; cs 1 and 3, the purlins 6 and 7 and the ground by lacing both on the arcs and on the purlins and ground garlic. The free length of the canvas therefore went from the ground to the ground passing through the entire textile vault, while according to the provisions of the invention applied to this particular embodiment, the free length of the canvas is divided by two if the span and the height are the same for FIG. 1 as for the fugures 2 and 3.
