Abstract

The marking is achieved by a reciprocating hammer punch (5) operated by remote control. Punch (5) is pref. located in a trolley, which is driven in two orthogonal planes parallel with the surface of the prod. being marked. The pref. trolley has a motor driving a cam to reciprocate punch (5). A computer is pref. used to control the movements of the trolley and punch (5). The appts. is used e.g. for marking hot rolled prods., or continuously cast billets or slabs with all required data such as casting times.
