Abstract

The fuel cell uses the electrolyte to carry both the fuel (ethylene-glycol or methanol) and the oxidant (oxygen) mixed together to form an emulsion which is pumped (4) into the main reaction chamber (5). The potash or porous carbon fibre electrodes (6,7) are placed perpendicular to the entry flow direction, so that positive (6) and negative (7) electrodes alternate. The electrolyte thus travels from side to side in the main chamber, wetting fully the electrode surfaces.
