Abstract

The foldaway bench top (4) is an integral part of a wall mounted tool chest (1). A horizontally elongated rectangular box (1) has rear wall straps (2) for fixing to a wall, and is square in vertical transverse section. Hook hinges (5) at the bottom corners allow the front panel (4) to pivot horizontally into a stayed (6) bench top position. The stay (6) may comprise a rectangular loop in round section bar, with a long leg permanently pinned to the external panel (4) face. It is externally connected to the chest (1) base by coil springs (8). Hooked bars (7) with pivot gates (9) extend vertically down from the rear chest wall, to locate the inboard longeron of the deployed stay (6). The chest may be equipped for tool storage and the bench top may locate a fixed rotatable vice (10).
