Abstract

In shaped articles of elastomeric macromolecular material, (A), contg. a direct binder mixt., (B), for achieving an adhesive bond with metallic or other rigid materials on crosslinking or vulcanising (A), the binder mixt. (B) contains substances, (I), dissociating to give off halogen or hydrogen halide. (I) can be liq. chloroparaffins pref. contg. 70% Cl, brominated phenoplasts, chlorinated polyethylene opt. mixed with chloroparaffin or brominated phenoplasts, or chlorinated rubber. The compsns. are used in the mfr. of reinforced articles, esp. steel cord-reinforced conveyor belts. (I)-addn. improves adhesion to metal by 10-20%. Strength reduction on ageing is suppressed.
