Abstract

The block is rectangular and has two parallel side walls (1,2) joined by a central portion which has a full vertical passage (3), two half section end passages (4) and top and bottom notches (6). The block is made of lightweight concrete with plastic or cork aggregate and rebates (5) allow adjacent blocks to be notched together. When a wall of such blocks has been built with mortar joints and with horizontal reinforcement in grooves (6), then vertical steel reinforcement is placed down hollows (3,4) and they are concreted with ordinary concrete to form strong structural pillars throughout the wall.
