Abstract

A monopulse antenna of enlarged angular dimension comprises two planar arrays of elementary antenna arranged about a centre (O) of symmetry and divided into three zones (A, B, A'). The outer zones (A,A') are symmetrical about the middle zone (B) and the centre (O) and are coupled to respective energy distributors (10,12,21) of an electromagnetic energy distribution system (6). The centre distributor produces sum and difference signals fed to respective summing circuits (15,17). A hybrid coupler (13) connected to the outer distributors also supplies a sum and difference signal to the respective summing circuits which then produce respectively output sum and difference signals. The characteristics of waves received by the elementary antenna are modified according to two laws of identical energy distribution to produce at the outputs of the summing circuits the sum and difference of signals corresponding to these laws.
