Abstract

The connector is for two way optical fibre systems. The fibres and the light emitting and receiving devices are connected to complete the circuits in the connecting block made of insulating material. The connector is designed for a plug-in connection of the optical fibres to the electrical emitter/receiver circuity and the design enables units to be interchanged for max. versatility. The optical fibres (11, 18, 20) are led into the insulating material forming the housing (10) for the connector. Each fibre (18, 20) is terminated with either an emitter (17) or receiver (19), and LED or phototransistor, in an internal block (16). Connections from the emitter (17) and receiver (19) are wired out to contact bushes (12) which connect with the pins (13) of the male connector (14).
