Abstract

The connector or equaliser is for band filters in high fidelity systems, typically between preamplifier and power amplifier stages over a frequency range 20Hz to 20kHz. The equaliser has a high signal to noise ratio and low distortion and consists of two amplifier stages (Ae, As) interconnected by parallel band filters (F1-Fn). Each such filter has an associated potentiometer (P1-Pn) providing a direct input to the power stage and negative feedback to the input stage. The potentiometer determines the ratio of the output to feedback. The gain of the amplifiers is chosen such that with the potentiometers set at their centre values the input signal (e11) and the output signal (S2) levels are equal. The filter provides a symmetrical gain characteristic from positive to negative about zero gain.
