Abstract

The frame of the dam is made by a connected series of triangular cone pyramids made from elements (11, 12, 13). Some of the elements (11) are laid on the ground, elements (13) rising to form downstream supports and elements (12) rising to support the dam face. The top of the pyramids are connected by longitudinal capping piece (4); the front base is formed by the sunken ground beam (2) while the back is fixed by concrete blocks (3) and cross bracing (14). The front face of the dam is made by paving flags (5) which support an impermeable layer of clay or a thin impermeable sheet of plastics material.
