Abstract

A machine operated by coins or tokens produces drinks of coffee from a dose of coffee powder and a quantity of hot water. A thermostatically controlled heater ensures that the correct water temperature is obtained. In a coffee machine, a motor (6) drives a shaft (5) to follow a program on a disc (5A). The shaft turns an assembly (3) in which a piston (9) is able to slide in a cylinder (7). The piston falls under its own weight and a shaft (10) protruding from the bottom reacts with a curved ramp (20) to raise the piston. At the low position the powder is injected into the cylinder. Water flows into the cup from a flexible pipe (40) via an inlet assembly (32) in which a thermostat controls the water temperature.
