Abstract

The side terminal is for lead acid accumulators. The strength of the side terminal to flexing and tensional strain is improved over the principal patent and the ease of welding the terminal to the accumulator output studs (4) has been improved. The terminal (3) is basically oval in plan and has a rectangular section cut-away to allow it to be keyed into an outer plastic shell (2) which is formed during the moulding of the accumulator casing (1). Side spurs are also provided to prevent any rotational movement. Connection to the lead keyed section is by a trapped nut (6) which allows the free cable terminal (8) to be bolted (7) against the face of the battery terminal. The terminal is welded to the accumulator stud by passing a suitable current through them.
