Abstract

The solar reflector has its mirror support (11) made from reinforced concrete in the form of a flat circular surface (10), covered with a large number of separate reflecting segments. This is attached to a pivot support (141), mounted on a vertical concrete column (145) set into the ground. The rear pivot support is also made from concrete and is extended rearwards to form a counterweight (151). A stainless steel tubular pivot (147) on Teflon (RTM) blocks (143) permits movement in the vertical plane and pads (146) between flat contact surfaces (148, 149) allow for horizontal adjustment about the vertical column.
