Abstract

Holder for supporting a telephone handpiece clear of the receiver incorporates a porous elastic pad for supporting the earpiece, to inhibit transmission of irrelevant to local conversation or noise while holding a caller until speaker can reply. Porus pad is esp. of fire-resistant grade foamed polyurethane or polyether resin. Opt. the wt. of the handset on the foam compresses the foam sufficiently to activate a switch for a loudspeaker to provide a tone or music for the benefit of the cellar awaiting further attention.
