Abstract

Proteins are sepd. from acid lactoserum by contacting with a cation exchange resin on a mineral support having a particle size 4-5 mm, a specific surface 5-150 m2/g, and pore size 500-2500 Angstrom and pore vol. 0.4-2 ml/g. Support is coated with =15 mg/m2 of a crosslinked polymer carrying -SO3H or -COOH cation exchange gp. and having exchange capacity =2 meq/g. Proteins are adsorbed and are then eluted. Elution is effected with a soln. of high ionic strength, or of basic pH. Proteins are suitable for use in food, dietetic, pharmaceutical and veterinary industries.
