Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé perfectionné de production de xanthane par fermentation. Des concentrations élevées en xanthane sont obtenues dans des fermentations sous l'action de Xanthomonas par l'addition graduelle d'une source de carbone assimilable, de préférence le glucose, au milieu nutritif aqueux au cours du cycle de fermentation. Les polymères élaborés par Xanthomonas sont très utilisés, par exemple, dans le déplacement de pétrole de gisements partiellement épuisés.
